...trying to catch a bird on long distance with a macro :))

Silvacane, Thoronet, Senanque, these austerely beautiful cistercian abbeys catch your breaths. You could not have imagined such simplicity and spiritual beauty built in stone. Silvacane lies on the left bank of the Durance river. It is the most recent of the three Cistercian abbeys in Provence and the only one that has not continued its monastic activity. The name comes from the Latin "silva cannorum" (forest of reeds). When the monks first settled here, they had to drain swamps before they could build the abbey (begin in 1174) and grow crops, hence the reference to reeds.

Vivid colors at the end of the day. Not such a neat composition but a cool light, i think. Have a great evening everybody and thanks for the 302,256 views!...:)

This one is for Hassan, who asked why I wasn't mirrored in those other shots...

After the frigid cold winter, Daffodils and Jonquils (narcissus) have spread everywhere, their bulbs secretly multiplying in the icy cold ground. I have never been so happy to see spring!!

Rose in my container garden

... didn't find a title... thanks to spidy69ca I do have one now!

Pot Marigold or English Marigold (Calendula officinalis) is a plant in the Calendula genus. It was used in ancient Greek, Roman, Arabic and Indian cultures as a medicinal herb as well as a dye for fabrics, foods and cosmetics.

The leaves and petals of the Pot Marigold are edible, with the petals added to dishes as a garnish and in lieu of saffron. The leaves can be sweet but are more commonly bitter, and may be used as or as part of salad. (...)

THE LIVING CURTAIN

Maybe I should call this one "Trying to look through my window!...

We let the vine grow in front of our window... the colored light that comes into our room is so incredible... and this is from where I take all those autumleaf shots...

mysterious and fashionable apparition seen on nightly stroll, Paris 6e.

lit only by the flame being thrown inside ..... these balloons are absolutely amazing.....

....and I forgot my tripod...so this was hand held.

Just decided to start a new series.....totally different to my macro photography...

Today I counted the windows of our house... there are 40 of them! So every once

in a while I will take a picture from one of the windows.....until completing the 40 views.

This is the catholic church of our town, St. Laurentius.

The shadow of dim delight

I gave myself up for lost

in the depth of a glad humiliation

---in the shadow of a dim delight.

The repose of the sun-embroidered green gloom

slowly spread over my heart.

I forgot for what I had traveled,

and I surrendered my mind without struggle

to the maze of shadows and songs.

At last, when I woke from my slumber and opened my eyes,

I saw thee standing by me, flooding my sleep with thy smile.

How I had feared that the path was long and wearisome,

and the struggle to reach thee was hard!

After the Gingko biloba the fig tree is my second favourite!!! I was so happy when I found out that some kinds also can grow here in Germany - they are frost resistant.

I have three of them in the garden. It is always a wonderful and delicious harvest in autumn!

About Figleaves:

In the book of Genesis in the Bible, Adam and Eve clad themselves with fig leaves after eating the "Forbidden fruit" from the Tree of Knowledge of good and evil. Likewise, fig leaves, or depictions of fig leaves, have long been used to cover the genitals of nude figures in painting and sculpture. Often these fig leaves were added by art collectors or exhibitors long after the original work was completed. The use of the fig leaf as a protector of modesty or shield of some kind has entered the language.

The biblical quote "each man under his own vine and fig tree" (1 Kings 4:25) has been used to denote peace and prosperity.

Another one of my "snail models".

Originally I only wanted to take some portraits of the wonderful purple

wisteria flowers......when I discovered its leaves through my macrolens!

They are so soft 'n hairy!

This tulip was from a bunch I bought as a treat for myself recently. One flower seemed to catch the light creating this inner glow. So I just had to do something about it.

'L' to view on black if you have time.

HOPE YOU ALL HAD A NICE WEEKEND.....THANKS FOR LOOKING.

MANY THANKS TO ALL WHO HAVE ASKED ABOUT PAT. HE IS FEELING A BIT BETTER TODAY.

WILL KEEP YOU INFORMED.
