"SPEAK US OF BEAUTY"

Where shall you seek beauty, and how shall you find her

unless she herself be your way and your guide?

And how shall you speak of her

except she be the weaver of your speech?...

Yet in truth you spoke not of her but of needs unsatisfied,

And beauty is not a need but an ecstasy.

It is not a mouth thirsting nor an empty hand stretched forth,

But rather a heart enflamed and a soul enchanted.

It is not the image you would see nor the song you would hear,

But rather an image you see

though you close your eyes

and a song you hear though you shut your ears.

It is not the sap within the furrowed bark,

nor a wing attached to a claw,

But rather a garden forever in bloom

and a flock of angels for ever in flight.

...Beauty is life when life unveils her holy face.

But you are life and you are the veil.

Beauty is eternity gazing at itself in a mirror.

But you are eternity and you are the mirror.

Kahlil Gibran (The Prophet)

Even in the midst of darkness, there is always light - we just have to find it. This could also be thought of, even in the midst of chaos we can always center - we just have to close our eyes and chose to do it. Whether it’s meditating, taking time for yourself, going to church, going to the gym, journaling, drawing, creating art, etc. Whatever your method - there is always light at the end of the tunnel and only you know best how to find it.

You have the power to find the light in the dark just like you have the power to let it take over you. What will you choose?

I spend the past three days without being able to access the internet...

an unbelievable long time!

A wonderful and lightfilled weekend to you all!

I am organizing my archives........ here is a find I really like myself.

I haven't done this for a while..taking photographs with intentional camera movement. I used to be addicted to this kind of photographic experiments... It is lots of fun and intruiging... you never know what will be the result. Just have to love soft curves..... and forget about sharp focus ;))

* Ervin (penseroso) I took your comment as title... it really fits perfectly!!! Thank you for that!

You will find lots of this kind of

trees around here in the Siebengebirge...

... but who wouldn't want to wait to grow up

surrounded by a cloud of colours and light ;)

But: does she know or even care what is

arround her and waiting for her? She just

seems to BE.

It's never enough to capture the frozen lighthouses from shore, so I find it necessary to venture onto the frozen pier - carefully. I determined it was worth the attempt to head out around the outer light, to see how the ice looked from the end of the pier. It was well worth the walk, and not nearly as slippery as the other surfaces I've climbed in my day. Lots of people on the pier today - that's unusual from my experience over the past decade or so, but maybe I usually get there before everyone else is awake.

LIGHT

"Light, my light, the world-filling light, the eye-kissing light, heart-sweetening light!

Ah, the light dances, my darling, at the centre of my life; the light strikes, my darling,

the chords of my love; the sky opens, the wind runs wild, laughter passes over the earth.

The butterflies spread their sails on the sea of light. Lilies and jasmines surge

up on the crest of the waves of light.

The light is shattered into gold on every cloud, my darling, and it scatters gems

in profusion.

Mirth spreads from leaf to leaf, my darling, and gladness without measure.

The heaven's river has drowned its banks and the flood of joy is abroad."

This wonderful quote of Goethe représent so well the six lines of each hexagram of the I Ching!

Everything in life is bearable, except for many days of uninterrupted happiness!

In het leven is alles dragelijk, behalve dagenlang ononderbroken geluk!

Elämässä voi kestää kaiken, paitsi monta päivää keskeytymätöntä onnea!

όλα υποφέρονται στη ζωή, εκτός από πολλές μέρες ατέλειωτης ευτυχίας

Minden elviselhető az életben, kivéve a sok napon át tartó folyamatos boldogságot!

Hayatta herşeye katlanılabilir, günlerce süren kesintisiz mutluluk dışında!

This is a find in my archives.....I had to reorganize them - my computer was so terribly slow..

Waves of floating ice balls roll along the North Pier in St. Joseph, MI.

Another interesting one of the "soap bubbles" series...

It is really interesting how the refraction works!

... with the colours of light

Moss growing on a stone wall in the vinyard... glowing in the morning sun.

What I really like about this one is the sparkle on the drop...

like a little star :)

Yesterday in the very late afternoon I suddenly saw these nasturtium leaves

filled with the last sunrays... everything around was kind of dark... and they

were spreading their wonderful emerald green light!

Softness of the morning light

"Without petals and still beautiful!"

Discovered on a morning walk in the vinyards... growing on an old stone wall. The moss was just glowing with the wonderful sun in it.

Most of us can count our truly good friends in our lives on one hand or for most on one finger, (not the middle finger).

For me, John was that really good friend who no matter where or when he would provide me with support even if it was only emotional support. He was always there for me and I as well for him.

I could write volumes about John, what he was like, what he believed to be true. What do you say about a good friend you have known for 50 years who passes away? There are so many thoughts and emotions that swirl through my mind as I search for one or two that would express my profound love and appreciation for knowing him all these years. To begin with let me say that I was with him the last few days of his life. I had the privilege of seeing him at his finest and the sadness of seeing him prepare to pass over to the next part of life. He chose to leave this world more on his terms rather than letting the diseases of life take him. He made his peace with God and himself with the last rites.

But, let me tell you a little more about him. He was a friend, a lover, a handyman, a builder, and a miracle worker at times. He was always quick with an original comeback in any situation. One time when I got back from a difficult training flight with a student, I commented that I wasn't nervous as "God" was with me. He, John, came back and said, "that's a lie", I wasn't with you today. Another time when I screwed up at work, John quipped about it, "Oh, the walk of Shame"... John was always like that, and a friend to most people. He especially good to (and very fond of) young beautiful women. He had a charm about him that came naturally that women all wanted to be around him. He was generous with what he had and with his attention. He never boasted but was always upfront and honest.

Good bye, good buddy

So to John Serna:

He left this world on December 16th 2021, aged 66. He has now gone on to the next journey.

John was a friend, a lover, and for some, a disturbance in the force. Chico, California will miss his vibrant personality. He is survived by five children and numerous grandchildren. I will truly miss him...

A note: I think I am getting inspired by all the beautiful skies from Helmut Gondim... so Helmut, this one is for you :)
