A GLC mock-up of how Highbury Corner would have looked with an unobtrusive little motorway running right through it....
This was planned in the late 1960s, and was to have been part of the London Inner Motorway Box, only parts of which were built. It would have connected Westway in the (er) west with the section of what is now the A406 down to the Blackwall Tunnel in the east, by way of Camden, Islington and Dalston. As you can see, the motorway would have more or less followed the line of the North London line (as it would have along most of its route), which is crammed in against the motorway cutting in this picture. The Georgian terraces on the north side of St Pauls Road would have been demolished.
To the left of the picture is the Highbury Corner high-rise, still under construction. To the top left is Highbuty and Islington Station (luxuriously accomodated here in what appears to be a shoe box) and the start of Holloway Road.
To the left is Calabria Road, flanked by the line linking the North London line to the Great Northern Line via the tunnel under Highbury Fields and Drayton Park. And in the middle is Corsica Street - but can anyone identify any of these buildings, including the large white one looking a bit like a garage?
This is the best resolution I can find I'm afraid. Perhaps the GLC wasn't keen for residents to have too good a view of the planning disaster it had in mind for our neighbourhood.
View looking up from inside the 9-11 memorial. Even laying down and zooming out to 10mm wasn't enough to get the whole thing in the frame.
I discovered that sticking the skull on TOP of the flashlight yields epic pics. And all this at 3 in the morning. This was also when I decided to get my ears pierced. I got it done the next day. :D

Inner Reflection: A Chapel of Meditation
Jon Taylor | Seaweed Artist Collective
The main concept represented by the Chapel is to create a space where any of the world’s cultural symbols could be applied, based on the viewpoint of each individual visitor. Those with Eastern influences might see Rat, Rabbit, Horse and Rooster from Feng Shui tradition. Celts might see Air Fire Water and Earth. A Native American Shaman could interpret it as Wisdom, Salvation, Beginnings and Conclusions etc...
This is accomplished by North, South, East and West corresponding to the four corners of this tranquil structure. The building’s orientation and shape is an abstract of all such forms of thought. Even the pendulum itself, surrounded by earth, fire, air and water could simultaneously be regarded as wood, metal, air, fire.
The exterior is meant to be devoid of any cultural or philosophical references, a black cube but with arched entryways that invite you inside. Once within, the white and gray color system represents a clean slate, a fresh moment to reflect, pray, meditate, or simply exist in a peaceful state.
The expression, ultimately is meant to be the creation of a space that is appealing to as many of the world’s spiritual traditions as possible." - Jon Taylor, lead artist.
A lovely Thursday evening spent out at our friends little farm in Vermilion County. The kids had a fun time swimming in the pond.
I stumbled on this funny wording online. I thought it would make a fun card.

The Inner Harbor is actually the end of the Northwest Branch of the Patapsco River and includes any water west of a line drawn between the National Aquarium in Baltimore and the Rusty Scupper restaurant.
While Baltimore has been a major U.S. seaport since the 1700s, the historically shallow water of the Inner Harbor was not conducive to large ships or heavy industry, most of which was concentrated in Locust Point, Fell's Point, and Canton. The Inner Harbor was chiefly a light freight commercial port and passenger port until the 1950s, when economic shifts ended both the freight and passenger use. Rotting warehouses and piers were eventually torn down and replaced by open, grass-covered parkland that was used for recreational purposes and occasional large events, such as city fairs and the significant 1976 bicentennial visit of tall ships. This initial renewal of the harbor area and its continued transformation into a major cultural and economic area of the city was spearheaded by Baltimore Mayor William Donald Schaefer. Harborplace, the waterfront festival marketplace, officially opened on July 1, 1980. Since being reincarnated as a cultural hub, the Inner Harbor has become the home to many tourist attractions. The two anchor attractions, in addition to Harborplace, are the National Aquarium in Baltimore and the Maryland Science Center.
First posting of a series of night time shots in Guildford from the weekend.
A group of us went out, split up and regrouped over the course of the evening to show what we had/hadn't found. Once again it was impressive (and inspiring) to see how other people view and capture the world on camera.
"Kindness is an inner desire that makes us want to do good things even if we do not get anything in return. It is the joy of our life to do them. When we do good things from this inner desire, there is kindness in everything we think, say, want and do." - Emmanuel Swedenborg
I know...I know....NOT ANOTHER EFFIN FLOWER !... I've yet to pick up my camera and go out shooting because I'm still recovering and although you could probably care less I thought I'd share regardless... 8~)
The "Saddle" point in the San Francisco Peaks, looking east out into the basin where Lockett Meadow and the Inner Basin Trail is located. One can reach this point taking several trails (Humphreys, Weatherford, Inner Basin). Taken on 8-21-08 by Mike Chaveas. Credit: U.S. Forest Service, Coconino National Forest.
My landlady has done some wonderful plantings over time and I can't help nipping out to pick a few select flowers. I loved how these narcissus looked backlit from the big arched window,.Please try it on black.
My little lionhearted girl Lily has her demons like everyone else. But some of her demons are truly frightening and when they catch up to her it shows on the poor thing's face.
Lily is a DZ Miss Kitty on a Doll Chateau Kid body.
