The Inner Basin Trail ascends from Lockett Meadow into the caldera of the San Francisco Peaks, an extinct volcano and home of the tallest peaks in Arizona. The first 1.7 miles of the trail winds through the extensive aspen forest flanking the upper reaches of the Peaks, joining the Waterline Trail briefly before following a jeep road into the caldera. The trail starts at an elevation of 8665 feet, gaining approximately 1200 feet over 2 miles on its way into the Inner Basin. The trail continues another 2 miles, gaining an additional 600 feet or so to join up with the Weatherford Trail.

I seem to have a weakness for Aloes...
The large mass to the left is African blue basil, a sterile hybrid that is one of a few types of basil that is perennial. I grow it for the bees as it is always in bloom and always full of happy bees!

These weird things are the inner cores of carrots. They are usually quite hard to retrieve intact, but these ones had become woody and were easier to extract. (The carrots were old.)
Spencer hit me up one day and wanted to do a photo walk. We decided on U-District since I had to sell one of my reflectors to Wendy there anyways. After we walked around shooting whatever caught our eye. After Spencer had to leave for work so I decided to go hang out with Wendy while she shot Nick Bentley. She's got a nice apartment with great lighting & big white walls. I'll have to shoot there sometime! Anyways this photo is a double exposure. Something I recently messed around & learned from Spencer. I'm really happy with it! Something different. I love applying new techniques I've learned and getting awesome results!

Another overcast, cool & windy evening on Alderney tonight! This is the Inner Harbour with it's fishing fleet. Fort Grosnez Stands behind , at the root of the massive breakwater. This harbour was built to protect the boats used to build the breakwater in the 1840's.

A single QJ on this line was uncommon, but not totally unheard of. Jining–Tongliao Railway, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Peoples Republic of China. 1st March, 2001.

My painting represents my two selves. The portrait of me represents my physical being, the person everyone else sees and knows. The clouds in my chest form a lion in the middle,
which is my spirit animal. This represents my real self, that only I know. The part that holds all my emotions and beliefs, all my life experiences collectively making me who I am. The lion is not very noticeable until you really look deep into the clouds, which represents the part of me that nobody else knows. Frida Kahlo was a big influence in my work. After we saw her painting “The Two Fridas” in class, it inspired me to connect the two parts of me in a close relationship, and representing two literal selves. In my case the first self was my body and personality with others, and the second self being my so called spirit or soul. When I was painting, I liked the idea of incorporating different layers into my artwork, like the sense of place project we did earlier. At first I was only going to do two layers, but I added more things to the original plans I went. With my choses medium (Acrylic paint) I likes to use different materials to obtain different textures. For example. I used a sponge for the glow around me, and I used paper towel to dab colours into the sunset. This was a risk I took as I never learned these techniques and came up with them as I worked through the painting. I decided to have two different scenes in the background for the first layer, my portrait for the second layer and the clouds for the third and last layer. This piece has turned out to be an accurate representation of who I am and I feel the painting tells a lot about me.

2009-05-30: Saturday evening, we were sitting on the front porch after our evening walk, enjoying a cup of chai and watching the sun set. There had been rain during the late afternoon, and heavy clouds had descended over the Peaks, hiding the mountain from view. The clouds had lifted in time for our evening ritual, and we noticed there was new snow on the upper tips of the Peaks. As we sipped our tea, we joked “If we were really motivated, we’d get up early, hit the Inner Basin Trail at dawn, and get some good photos before the snow melts off…”
2009-05-31: …so, at 4:00AM we stumbled out of bed, grabbed some coffee, got dressed, grabbed more coffee and rolled out the door around 4:30AM. We drove up the mountain, and hit the trail around 5:15AM. There was a bit of a breeze making the hike rather chilly. Everything was wet and green, and the aspens created a delectable aroma. Past Jack Spring (1.5 miles from the trailhead) we hit the frost line, and the vegetation sparkled (and the air was noticeably chillier). We arrived at the Inner Basin (the point where there’s a shelter and pumphouse, and all the Peaks are visible) around 6:45AM. We’d expected some shade still at that hour, and were delighted to discover the sun was shining right up through the low point in the Peaks (the north-eastern side, where the wall was blown out during an eruption), lighting up the entire Inner Basin for us. We wandered around a bit capturing various shots, then headed back to attend to our day’s activities.

The Inner City Church is the oldest Church on the Pest side, and is where Saint Gellert is buried.
The church was built in the 14th century in Gothic Style. The Church has had many renovations, and was almost torn down to build the Elisabeth Bridge.
