On the Waterline Road segment of the Inner Basin Trail.
The Inner Basin Trail ascends from Lockett Meadow into the caldera of the San Francisco Peaks, an extinct volcano and home of the tallest peaks in Arizona. The first 1.7 miles of the trail winds through the extensive aspen forest flanking the upper reaches of the Peaks, joining the Waterline Trail briefly before following a jeep road into the caldera. The trail starts at an elevation of 8665 feet, gaining approximately 1200 feet over 2 miles on its way into the Inner Basin. The trail continues another 2 miles, gaining an additional 600 feet or so to join up with the Weatherford Trail.

Sometimes the loudest voices are the ones that go unheard. This image peers through the veil of darkness into a fleeting moment of exposure—raw, unguarded, and deeply human. A hand lifts, not to shield, but to reveal the weight of emotion too heavy to speak. The eye, sharpened by shadow, carries a quiet defiance, a story too layered for words. This is not a portrait of a person—it is a portrait of presence, of survival, of something felt more than seen.
Avebury is one of Britain's most important prehistoric sites, renowned for the standing stones that punctuate the village and represent the remains of one of the largest Neolithic stone circles ever constructed.
The present village of Avebury was built partially within the old stone circle, which is itself surrounded by earthworks forming a vast circular ditch, a massive undertaking. Almost half the stones of the outer circle remain in some form, mostly on the western side closer to the heart of the village. The huge roughly hewn monoliths are impressive, not least for the effort that must have been required to transport them and erect them here in a standing position.
South of the main circle and village is the Avenue which extends outwards for some distance towards West Kennett. The Avenue is lined on both sides by more standing stones, many of which are missing and generally smaller than those in the circle, but it still makes for a dramatic approach to the site.
My first encounter with Avebury was through a spooky television series in the 1970s called 'Children of the Stones' which was filmed on location here. The memory of the eerie atmosphere of the mysterious stones had stayed with me ever since.

Inner Basin Trail in the San Francisco Peaks at the start of fall color season, 2017. In the Inner Basin, the interior valley of the San Francisco Peaks, hikers are treated to a view of all the highest peaks of the San Francisco Peaks.

Daytrip to the Inner Harbor at Baltimore, MD. I'm really enjoying the 30mm f/2.8 macro as a walkaround lens.
Mevagissey nestles in a small valley and faces east to Mevagissey Bay. The inner and outer harbours are busy with a mixture of pleasure vessels and working fishing boats, the remains of a once major industry. The village centre consists of narrow streets with many places to eat and shops aimed at the tourist trade. The outer areas are built on the steep slopes of the surrounding hillsides and are mostly residential.
The first recorded mention of Mevagissey dates from 1313 (when it was known as Porthhilly), although there is evidence of a settlement dating back to the Bronze Age.
I took this shot at the Inner Harbor in Baltimore, Maryland the other day. The tallship in the harbor is the USS Constellation.
She was sitting there,
all by herself, quietly,
