Photograph taken at an altitude of Six metres, in the magic of The Golden Hour around sunrise at 05:55am on Tuesday 17th April 2007 off 1st Street and Bevan Avenue, looking towards the Bevan Avenue Fishing Pier in beautiful Sidney by the sea on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada.

The Bevan Avenue fishing pier is one of the main focal points in this small but beautiful town where some of my family are so lucky to reside. I am never happier than when walking around and capturing the beauty and charm of this most special of locations. Work commenced on the pier in 1993 withn Phase one, a 90 metre straight section being completed in 1996. A year later the 110 metre Phase two section was completed.

55012 "Crepello" arrives in London with 1E01 07:05 Edinburgh to King’s Cross whilst 55011 "The Royal Northumberland Fusiliers" and 55005 "The Prince of Wales's Own Regiment of Yorkshire" await their next turns - 29/08/1978.

Crepello will have been coasting on one engine for the last few miles of its approach to Kings Cross, but the second engine will have kicked into life for the climb through Copenhagen Tunnel, hence the white exhaust from the previously idle prime mover.

Just look at the lighting fittings for the station nameboard!

Today the platform the train is standing in is out of use and the area used for car parking.

Note also the power station chimneys in the background.

Originally with the D Prefix 1921 went on to become 47244 renumbered in May 74 and later 47640 University of Strathclyde. It was identified as being preserved at the Battlefield Line on 9.9.07. Owned by Nemesis Rail?? Stored? Can anyone clarify?.

Merano or Meran is a town and comune in South Tyrol, Italy. Generally best known for its spa resorts, it is located within a basin, surrounded by mountains standing up to 3,335 m (11,000 ft), at the entrance to the Passeier Valley, the Vinschgau and the Ulten Valley. In the past the town has been a popular place of residence for several scientists, literary people, and artists, including Franz Kafka, Ezra Pound and Paul Lazarsfeld, who appreciated its mild climate.

Wet West Pier?

Round trip tickets are just $2.50. A far cry from tourists attractions in Chicago. I like the fact that the average Joe can see the city like this without having to own / rent a dwelling that's priced out of reach. Yea cool view.

Originally steam powered, the Duquesne Incline was built to carry cargo up and down Mt. Washington in the late 19th century. It later carried passengers, particularly Mt. Washington residents who were tired of walking up footpaths to the top. Inclines were then being built all over Mt. Washington. But as more roads were built on “Coal Hill” most of the other inclines were closed. By the end of the 1960s, only the Monongahela Incline and the Duquesne Incline remained.

In 1962, the incline was closed, apparently for good. Major repairs were needed, and with so few patrons, the incline's private owners did little. But local Duquesne Heights residents launched a fund-raiser to help the incline. It was a huge success, and on July 1, 1963, the incline reopened under the auspices of a non-profit organization dedicated to its preservation.

The incline has since been totally refurbished. The cars, built by the J. G. Brill and Company of Philadelphia, have been stripped of paint to reveal the original wood. An observation deck was added at the top affording a view of Pittsburgh's "Golden Triangle", and the Duquesne Incline is now one of the city's most popular tourist attractions.
