With steam to spare and a healthy-looking load of coal in the tender, 46100 'Royal Scot' rolls into Beattock up passenger loop heading the 1Z64 10:37 Edinburgh Waverley-Carlisle S.R.P.S. charter on Bank Holiday Monday 29 August 2016. The surviving infrastructure at this once important 'banking station' and loco depot site is remarkable.

Gibellina (Sicilian: Gibbiddina) is a small city and comune in the mountains of central Sicily, Italy in the Province of Trapani. It was destroyed by the 1968 Belice earthquake.[1]
The new city, Gibellina Nuova, was rebuilt some 11 kilometres (7 mi) distant from the old one. The new city was designed by many of the most prominent artists and architects in Italy, but done in a piecemeal fashion so that the parts of the new city bear little relation to one another or to the indigenous architecture of Sicily.
Ruderi di Gibellina (as the ruins of the city are now referred to) remained just as it was after the earthquake, practically a ghost-town. Artist Alberto Burri covered the entirety of the ruins in concrete, while preserving the shape of the buildings and the streetscape. Additionally, Italian sculptor Pietro Consagra and Senator Ludovico Corrao formed an open air museum with a Consagra sculpture "Porta del Belice" or "Door to Belice" at the entrance. Consagra expressed a wish to be buried at Gibellina on his deathbed in July 2005.[2]
Was hoping Canadian Pacific's Northfield Job would be the appetizer for an appearance here by the INRD 90's, but, wasn't meant to be today, as they got tied down before crossing the river.
In any event, this is the CP job that delivers cars to Progressive Rail's operations in Rosemount and Northfield. This train used to run down and back daily, but, they've been reduced to one direction per day as of late.
CP 2216 is a GP20C-ECO, part of the first 30 unit order for EMD's ECO line, which essentially allows railroads to trade an old GP for a new GP with the original's emissions requirements - good way to work the system, and I hope it works out well for EMD, since they won't have a Tier 4 product ready for the domestic market until 2017.
Speaking of 2017, there are rumors swirling that UP's infrastructure improvements have this bridge getting replaced then. Not that anyone needed an excuse to shoot the Robert Street Lift Bridge, but, its potential imposing demise is a good one.
Keen-eyed viewers will also note the American Queen, the world's largest steamboat, docked in the background.
What's the first thing you do when you get to Las Vegas? Set up the tripod in the airport parking garage for plane trails, of course. Departures seemed to be on 19 which didn't line up with the Strip, so I shot arrivals on 19 instead. There are also some faint trails from helicopters giving tours.
The car trails on the right are taxis queuing up for the one taxi stand. It was an impressive operation.

Another long exposure shot from Belmont reservoir on the West Lancashire Moors, abandoned bridge structure into the reservoir, with nowhere to walk anymore it seems to have been left as probably easier than dismantling it. An unusual feature in contrast to the barren moorland all around it.
