Phase-Eight was one of my favourite shops in East Street, Brighton. A few months ago I posted a photo of the shops in East Street that had closed down as a result of the pandemic and were to let. It's good for the economy to see the shops being let again but I'm disappointed to see the types of businesses that are replacing them. Sadly a sign of the times.
(132/366) We bought 6 baby Golden Pheasants for our aviary last Summer (primarily to fill it up & stop me buying turkey poults to rear for Christmas). Sadly they weren't in the best of health we found out to our cost & they all died except for these 2 handsome chaps. One is a regular Red Golden & the other is a more unusual Yellow Golden. They are just moulting into their adult plumage.
They are quite tame but the yellow one was camera shy, he froze to the spot trying to hide then when I moved he did a great Roadrunner impression & shot off into their shed. Happy Wing Wednesday!

The National Trust's Calke Abbey. Also known as the The un-stately home and country estate. It is set in 600 acres of countryside and gardens, stables and outbuildings, and of course the main historic building, Calke Abbey in the glorious Derbyshire Countryside. It's a Grade I Listed Country House. The site was an Augustinian priory from the 12th century until its dissolution by Henry VIII. It dates back to 1701. It is owned by Harpur Baronets (Harpur and Harpur Crewe Families) The National Trust.
If ever a house deserved a reputation as a time-capsule, it's Calke Abbey. A perfect example of the family's eccentric behaviour is a magnificent state bed, a gift to a family member in 1714. The bed, with embroidered Chinese silk hangings, was never erected but remained in storage. The last family residents of Calke Abbey became Charles, and then Henry and Airmyne Harpur-Crewe. None of the three children married and the National Trust took over the property in 1984/5.
How old is the old man of Calke Abbey? Now known as the Old Man of Calke, this ancient oak is over 1,000 years old, but still continues to grows healthily.
Today, the National Trust's Calke Abbey is preserved, not restored. So you get to see it as it was left by its previous owners.

(67/365) I was busy washing up when I noticed a Dung fly caught in a cobweb outside the kitchen window. Quick as a flash the spider pounced on the fly & it was a wrap. I popped outside to get the photo. View Large to see the black dog hair! Poor spider, those dog hairs get everywhere. HWW x 3 and HBBBT!
I don’t think I’ve ever seen as many surfers as there were in the sea today. I counted 35 at one point but they never kept still. In came a wave and they were all chasing it. I waited a few minutes for the giant wave that had them all up on their boards but it never came.
The building on the top of the cliff is the exclusive Roedean Girls School. The school incorporates dance studios, music classrooms, a 320-seat theatre, a heated indoor swimming pool, a golf course, a private tunnel to the beach, a farm and a chapel, as well as a range of workshops, studios, laboratories and sports pitches.

Yasiyateré chico / Pavonine cuckoo (Dromococcyx pavoninus)
Misiones, Argentina.

How much do want something in life? Is it in the bone drenching rain, the muddy slips, the splats on your backside, the knee high bogs that fill your boots with god knows what, the streams you criss-cross several times but eventually you see it in the distance. This true gem has several delight-fall waterfalls along the way. You then finally meet this...I always hope for an overcast day to photograph waterfalls correctly but my goodness it was raining in the style that dampens the bones.
Only a mile from the A57 along snake pass, is the gorgeous Blackden Brook. This has to be one of the finest unfrequently photographed waterfalls of the Peak District. It is not only magical but will tease you with its beauti-fall friends along the way.

Ellen (Strangers 10, Round 3)
Ellen, she showed me her Amnesty International card. "Can I ask you something? I speak to people and tell about the discrimination against homosexuals in countries in Eastern Europe. Do you want to sign a petition? ”. She said that she does this work as a student (she is studying the account manager training) and can thus collect some extra credits in Corona time. I was surprised that by collecting signatures you can also collect credits. It is an alternative to doing an internship. She was not alone, more students were active. I had to sign via her tablet, only that way she got credits. This is the 10th photo from my 3rd round of the 100strangers project.
