Paris en hiver / Paris in winter

After taking some exposures of the Philly skyline from the South St. bridge - I came across Grace Tavern. This tavern is a small neighbor bar just off South St. Since my daughter watched the Eagles win Super Bowl LII here, I decided to snap off a few images.

While working out the exposure and focusing, I noticed two people walking toward the bar from my left. Quickly, I shot off an exposure. Although I don't typically try to capture people in my images, it seemed like an opportunity to catch a little motion. Luckily, it worked out - kind of funny that it looks like both have one leg.

The beautiful booted racket tail was captured as he was in a hurry going I am not sure where !!!!! He is like a little bullet with his awesome tail following behind. What amused me about this image was the size of his fluffy booties. They were much bigger than I had realized. A joy to see and photograph on our recent trip to Ecuador !!!

Wishing you an awesome and blessed day !!!!

Another image taken at Peter Coulsons'. portrait workshop at Studio 501 in Surrey Hills, but this time using some borrowed gear.

The small group of us in the workshop seemed to all get along well and had a range of different camera equipment between us, mostly Canon and Nikon. Peter Coulson was shooting with his Hasselblad medium format setup, tethered to his laptop and big monitor so we could all see straight away what was happening with the lighting and how he worked with it.

Luckily (for me anyway) there was one other participant shooting with a medium format camera, which he kindly offered to me to take a few frames on using one of my memory cards. At first I was a bit reluctant not sure if it might be a bit beyond me, but in the end my curiosity won and I gratefully accepted his offer.

So this is Alice, again, image taken using a Phase One IQ140 medium format camera with Schneider LS 80mm f2.8 lens. The guy who owned it, not a pro just a keen shooter, said he would likely sell it soon as he needed the 25k that was tied up in it. No need to say that I was very careful with it taking my shots!

Once back home I took a few days but finally worked out how to transfer the (different format 40MP!) files off the memory card and was completely blown away by the detail captured in the images. There is no hiding anything, the tiniest detail is visible, almost too sharp. I'm not sure you can see that here on Flickr but in full hi resolution the amount of detail is really amazing.

Whether it's worth the price of a nice car is probably debatable (at least by my wife!) so I think it will remain in the world of Alice and that wonderland for me.

I can see why all kinds of photographers, from landscape to fine art, would use this kind of equipment though and am so grateful to have had the opportunity to see how it works.

Maybe if the Lotto comes in ............ :-)

In times like these it is nice to browse through old(ish) pictures and indulge in good memories

the beached hills of Bryce Canyon

I do a lot of such street shots, but in most cases i´m not happy with the outcome.

This is the first attempt to combine several aspects I like in a photo.

This definitly dilutes the single effect of the different aspects, but I think it makes a photo more interesting, if not everything is just straight foreward to see and you can discover a photo...

for a better way to do this see it large

It is a rainy day. Make sure your camera and lens are weather sealed or that your lens have a gasket. After 3pm it gets darker in winter, I shoot before 3pm because after that I must use higher ISO especially with bird in flight because I need at least 1/800 sec. When the hills get green, I will start landscape photography. I don’t need new gear next year because I have 3 prime lenses for bird photography. I started photography with zoom lenses such as Tamron 70-200mm 2.8. It was a good lens and I got good pictures. My favorite lens for gull in flight is 300mm. this range is good for birds that are close distance.

“The world is exploding in emerald, sage, and lusty chartreuse - neon green with so much yellow in it. It is an explosive green that, if one could watch it moment by moment throughout the day, would grow in every dimension.” ~ Amy Seidl

She gave us love. We got her from a rescue shelter.

Her fur was so soft. She could be feisty, loved our garden and her many places in the house to curl up in, including our laps.
