Watercolour on 140 lb Arches Cold Press paper.
This was done in a workshop at our local art centre today. The daisies were masked first, then the paper was wet totally, the background laid down and the surrounding grasses and flowers added. When dry the misket was removed and shadow was then added on the daisies. I may do a little more work on this tomorrow after I have a fresh look at it.

In a temple quarter of Fukuoka I had a quiet - but hot (35C+) - morning in the shade of huge trees. In one of the temple 'yards', that of Jyunshin-ji - I saw an amazing, many-limbed Cycas. What a sight! Here's a look at the female flowerhead.
It was first described in 1782 by Carl Peter Thunberg (1743-1828), indefatigable voyager and botanist, who is also often called the 'Japanese Linnaeus.

Yesterday, we saw a pair of cedar waxwings eating the wild cherries from our trees. We've lived here for 36 years and never seen them in the yard. And, today we find out that we have a family.

By the sacred grove, where the waters flow
We will come and go, in the forest
In the summer rain, we will meet again
We will learn the code of the ancient ones
In the forest
By the waterfall, I will hold you in my arms
We will meet again by the leafy glade
In the shade of the forest
With your long robes on, we will surely roam
By the ancient roads, I will take you home
To the forest
In the forest, in the forest
In the forest, in the forest
With your long robes on, we will surely roam
By the ancient roads, I will take you home again
To the forest
Satisfy the soul baby
Birds sing all day long of the mother lode
We can let it roll, in the forest
With your long robes on
I know where you're coming from
By the big oak tree you've gotta come and go with me
In the forest, in the forest
In the forest, in the forest
By the waterfall
I will hold you in my arms, and we will meet again
By the leafy shade, in the, in the forest
Satisfy the soul
Birds sing all day long of the mother lode
We can surely let it roll, in the forest
With your long robes on
I know where you're coming from
We will surely roam, down by the ancient roads ,by Van Morrison
there are 4 waterfall drops along the width of the Dead River in Marquette which are simply called Dead Pool Falls. This is one of the more pretty of the four,

In the small town of Wülfrath in the heart of the Bergisches Land region, there is an unusual attraction: artificial sheep. However, these sheep are not the usual animals you see in the fields. They are made of fiberglass and were designed by local artists.
The idea came about in 2007 as part of the "Art and Sheep" art project. The organizers wanted to bring art into public spaces, using the theme of sheep as a symbol of the region and its rural environment.
Twelve artists from Wülfrath and the surrounding area were each asked to design an empty sheep according to their own ideas. The results were so impressive that the sheep quickly became the town's trademark.
Each sheep has its own character and its own story. For example, there is the sheep "Flocke", which looks like a fairy tale character with its woolly fur and golden horns. Or the sheep "Rudi", which was decorated with graffiti elements by an artist and is now emblazoned on the wall of a parking garage.
There are now over 30 artistic sheep in Wülfrath, which can be seen in various places around the city. Some stand in front of stores or restaurants, others in parks or public squares.
The sheep not only have an aesthetic function, but also contribute to the city's identity and sense of community. They have become a popular photo motif and provide but not only a tourist highlight. They also have a social function. Some sheep were designed by young people, who thus had the opportunity to live out their creativity and identify with their hometown.
All in all, the art project "Art and Sheep" is an example of how art in public spaces can strengthen the identity of a city and promote a sense of community. The art sheep have made Wülfrath a distinctive place and bear witness to the creativity and wealth of ideas of the people in the region.
This little beauty could barely be seen from the seldom-used small country road off which it was located. When I made my way through the snow and thick bushes, I could not have been more pleased with it - small with lots of character and an open space for shooting. An interior view is posted to the right.
I would like to return in the spring when the snow has melted but before the vegetation is in leaf.
Image taken near Mata-mata
Before sunset we stayed to shot a raptor that we particularly liked. We worry on our way back to find the entry to the camp closed ! A few kilometers only from our destination and near a waterhole where apparently he just drink in, a cheetah was showing off before some admirers. At first lying on the ground, the animal roll sideways, seeming very calm, enjoying himself, ignoring us. Then he stand up and left us without hurry, coming back a few times, one or two bushes away, letting us admiring his feline beauty before leaving ...The wildlife photographer knows well this intense emotion which we never tires when wild nature offers us such a gift!

My zoom lense was very busy as I watched this New Holland honeyeater fly around the Callistemon bush and drink from the flowers. Many shots were taken but few made the cut, such as this one.
St. Joseph's, Devine Street, Columbia, SC
Most of the shots I posted this weekend looked skyward, or at least featured the sky. It's been so beautiful with fluffy clouds and October blue. But I also shot a few toward the ground. These tiny tiny things were scattered among black-eyed susans and echinacea that skirted St. Joseph's on Devine Street.
