The Tiradentes Palace (built in 1922) is located in the city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It was the old building of the Brazilian National Congress, between 1926 and 1960, and is the current seat of the Legislative Assembly of the State of Rio de Janeiro.
* I'm grateful for visit, faves and comments of my photo.
This male Wren was in full song and claiming his territory on my local patch the other day. It's a good time to photograph Wrens at the moment as the vegetation hasn't grown up yet and they're quite showy.

My evil pumpkin sits on our mantle chomping on a leaf. Don't get too near - he just might bite you.
Looking along the coast from Barrowmouth in Whitehaven on the Cumbrian coast, we have a wonderful coastline on a clear day we can see the coast of Scotland and The Isle Of Man from here.
The Aurora is a very strange phenomenon that gives you very little warning that it's about to light up the night sky in a rather spectacular way.
An hour or so earlier that night we'd be treated to a fleeting glimpse of green dancing across the sky but that had soon faded along with our hopes of a getting a memorable photo.
So at midnight i trundled off to bed feeling slightly deflated that the famous Icelandic light show had been ever so meagre but now I realise patience is the key where the Aurora is concerned.
30 or so minutes had passed but as i lay on the bed trying to sleep I noticed the window behind the thin curtain had a strange glow about it.
With that I was up, I threw on a coat grabbed the camera and raced outside giving Dom a shout on the way.
Yep spectacular, amazing, jaw dropping - the sky bright green and full of dancing light in every direction. I'm so glad I didn't nod off to sleep!
North Queensferry sits on the Firth of Forth beneath the beautiful and famous Forth Bridge.
In this evening shot, the constellation Orion is clearly visible.
North Queensferry is bounded by two sites of special scientific interest (SSSIs), one being the shoreline of the Firth of Forth, an SSSI for its entire extent on both north and south shores, and the other the Carlingnose Point Nature Reserve. The Forth shoreline is an SSSI both on account of its geology and its biological habitats, such as its mudflats which support numerous species of sea birds, many of which are to be seen and heard in and around North Queensferry. Carlingnose is designated on account of its exceptional plant life. The rare dropwort, field gentian and bloody cranesbill are all found here, along with some notable species of millipede and centipede. The reserve is also a good place to observe sea birds; fulmars nest on the old quarry cliffs at the north side of the reserve. Killer whales or orcas have been known to come up the Firth of Forth as far as Queensferry and have been observed from the coastal path which passes through the reserve. [Wikipedia}

It took the damselfly about 5 minutes to shed its skin and emerge into its final form. The stubby wings take another 10 mins or so to inflate and the damselfly will rest for a few more minutes before taking its first feeble flight. At this stage, it is very vulnerable to birds and was hiding deep in the foliage. Over the next few days it will develop its colours. Having spent a year or two underwater growing from a deposited egg, it will only live a few weeks as an adult. hopefully surviving long enough to breed. The empty skin shell is called an exuvium. Hundreds of exuvia were visible in the reed beds.
The legend of this fruit: The 'Crab Apple' got its name many many years ago. Infact it was shortly just after the wheel was invented sometime around my birth date. A farmer was sitting on a bale of hay when suddenly from out of the heavens a bright light caught his eye. He followed it to earth only to discover a 'Space Crab' perched on a tiny apple in his orchard. From that day to this the little apple is known as a 'Crab Apple' ..... or so the legend says :)
Taken Macro 1:1 for the group #MacroMondays theme: #Fruit
Drifting back into reality these are 'Crab Apple's', very small wild apple fruits, the largest apple is about 3/4 of an inch, beloved by Blackbirds especially and too sour for us humans to eat from the tree so is usually made into a jelly or a drink. Here they are on heavy textured paper illuminated from above and below using diffused LED lights.

Rufus : "Oh my goodness, I'd just got back from having my first walk in the nature reserve (or car park) for the first time in 5 months.
"While Mum was in hospital or at the convalescent home, Dad couldn't take me out either, because of his mobility problems.
"But, today my new Auntie Fabienne came and took me out. She looked after Mum and the others at weekends (not all of them) at Guingamp, but lives in Perros.
"She can't take me out every day so Mum and Dad are going to put some publicity up to see if someone can help us.
"When I got home, I asked to go into the garden and Izzy came too, her lead got stuck around the parasol stand and she was trying to tell me, Mum and Dad that she needed help!!"

Passing train in U-Bahnhof Münchner Freiheit.
Within a very short time, the Münchner Freiheit U-Bahn station has gone from being a somewhat dingy public transportation hub to a showroom of modern architecture. The U-Bahn area is looking spiffy thanks to Ingo Maurer's lighting concept.
This is just one of 30 roses in a bouquet we were given last month from our daughter Elaine:))

Hello All!
For Happy Slider's Sunday, I took an image of a Yellow Lady's Slipper (Cypripedium parviflorum) and attempted to make it look more "woodsy" via Topaz Studio. This orchid is a wildflower that grows in deciduous and mixed forests, some ditches, and coniferous bogs. It is relatively common in Manitoba, but doesn't like to be transplanted or picked. Because of Manitoba's exceedingly dry spring, there weren't as many of them. Those that I found were pretty stunted.
HSS!
I appreciate your comments and views very much, THANK YOU! It is always wonderful to hear from you! Have a wonderful day!

Spotted at the Route 66 Festival in Springfield, MO last month....I'm sure some guys were dreaming of this colorful beauty! HTT
June 30th of this year we will live a second longer
A leap in time due to a change in the Astronomical Time
caused by slowing down the Earth's rotation.
The first "leap second", occurred in 1972 and, since then, was followed by others 25. A phenomenon that is due to the unpredictable nature of events, such as earthquakes, tides and weather, that is, all those elements that change the Earth's rotation and Consequently, the "flow" of time.
June 30th watches in the world will mark the 11:59:60 pm instead of the classic 11:59:59 pm. To this day, there will be 86401 seconds instead of 86400. The length of the day for all of us on Earth will have a second longer.
So we were able to lengthen the time!?!
And how come we can make things so difficult and we can not do other things much easier, how to stop these stupid wars ....
