Dal mese di giugno 2022 è in corso lo scavo archeologico del giardino di Largo Corrado Ricci, tra Via dei Fori Imperiali, Via Cavour e Torre dei Conti.

Questa area della città conserva una stratificazione storica e urbanistica estremamente ricca.
Andando a ritroso nel tempo, infatti, il giardino era stato sistemato a seguito delle demolizioni operate negli anni Trenta del secolo scorso per la realizzazione di Via dell’Impero, l’odierna via dei Fori Imperiali, inaugurata nel 1932. Le demolizioni avevano raso al suolo l’ottocentesco Palazzo Nicolini insieme ad altre strutture abitative e commerciali la cui costruzione, grazie ai documenti di archivio, si può far risalire al XVII secolo. Ancora prima, tra XIII e XIV secolo, erano in questa zona strutture connesse alla fortezza urbana della nobile famiglia dei Conti, che aveva il suo perno nella grande torre voluta da papa Innocenzo III (1198-1216). In epoca romana, qui sorgeva il Foro della Pace, fatto costruire dall’imperatore Vespasiano (69-79 d.C.) tra il 71 e il 75.

Lo scavo attualmente in corso si prefigge di raggiungere e indagare proprio il settore nord-orientale di questo Foro, al confine con il muro perimetrale dell’attiguo Foro di Nerva all’altezza delle celebri “Colonnacce”.

Nella conferenza, tenuta da personale della Sovrintendenza Capitolina che lavora nel cantiere, si illustreranno non solo gli aspetti scientifici delle indagini archeologiche ma anche quelli legati alle problematiche connesse alla progettazione e all’esecuzione di uno scavo collocato in pieno centro storico, in una città come Roma. Inoltre saranno illustrate le azioni messe in campo per la comunicazione e condivisione dell’andamento dei lavori con la collettività attraverso le reti social e le visite didattiche in cantiere.

While in Florida in 2009, I went for a long drive and happened upon a tourist trap with a huge concrete conch shell outside (and I thought I took a photo of that, which would probably help me with the name of this place, but I can’t find it).
So I stopped, went inside, and was suitably mortified. Though not as mortified as these animals. I love animals though I’m definitely not a fan of PETA — but this stuff just stunned me.
I will say they were all magnificently stuffed. Top notch jobs all around! Hey, I can recognize a quality taxidermy job without sanctioning the practice of big game hunting, right? I mean, they’re already dead.
As I recall, they came from the collection of one person who presumably shot them all. I further presume he passed away and the family sold off the entire lot to this roadside museum.
This place had drop ceilings with styrofoam panels (like in most office buildings) which really kind of ruined the effect of being out on the savannah, but as cheesy roadside attractions go, I guess it only made it that much cheesier, which is...good, I guess.
But there were leaks in the ceiling and some places had water dripping into buckets on the floor. Water, moisture, Florida, humidity — none of that's good! And this was seven years ago, so I might have seen them at the peak of their condition.
Well, I mean, after they were killed, that is.
These were all taken with my even lousier pre-blogging camera, so the quality is just terrible.

Zaterdag 12 januari 2013 | De eerste stadswandeling in 2013 betreft mijn bezoek aan het mooie Dordrecht. Dordrecht is in de historie van groot belang geweest voor het Koninkrijk der Nederlanden. Hoe toepasselijk is het daarom dat de wandeling start op de Visbrug bij het standbeeld ter nagedachtenis van de broeders Johan en Cornelis de Witt die in Dordrecht geboren zijn.
De wandeling die ik vandaag maak draagt de naam ' Rondje Dordt' en is te koop bij de VVV die aan de rand van het oude centrum van Dordrecht te vinden is. De eerste foto's beginnen dan ook aan de rand van Dordrecht. Vervolgens volgen ze in grote lijnen de wandeling die beschreven is in ' Rondje Dordt'.
Het 'Rondje Dordt' voert langs de belangrijkste bezienswaardigheden in de oude binnenstad van Dordrecht, zoals het Stadhuis, Groothoofdspoort, de Grote Kerk of Onze-Lieve-Vrouwe Kerk (helaas gesloten toen ik daar langs kwam), Het Hof en het Dordrechts Museum.
Opvallend zijn de vele binnenhavens die veelal kunstmatig zijn aangelegd. Verder zijn de schuine - naar voren hellende - gevels geen verzakte gevels maar staaltjes van vakmanschap van de bouwmeesters in die tijd. Dat Dordrecht in de Gouden Eeuw een welvarende stad was is nog goed te zien. Dordrecht is zeker een stad om terug te komen....maar dan wel als de temperatuur wat aangenamer is.

Die Lucerna Music Bar ist ein Konzertclub in Prag, Tschechien. Sie befindet sich im Lucerna-Palast.
Die Lucerna Music Bar ist eine der Bühnen des Prager Internationalen Jazzfestivals und des AghaRTA Prager Jazzfestivals. Sie wurde auch für das Václav-Havel-Tributkonzert genutzt. Der 1995 eröffnete Veranstaltungsort hat maßgeblich dazu beigetragen, vielen tschechischen Bands Bekanntheit zu verschaffen. Heute finden hier freitags und samstags Diskotheken statt, und unter der Woche gibt es hauptsächlich Livemusik. Der Name Lucerna bedeutet auf Tschechisch „Laterne“.

The BC Centre for Ability in Vancouver has an annual health and safety fair. It is mandatory for workers to attend so they can meet accreditation standards, and our members there did a great job of informing everyone!
The OHS Tea is our annual event to get relevant and necessary information out to our staff in a quick and fun way and it is mandatory for staff to attend. There are certain topics that have to be relayed to staff yearly per CARF standards, so we do those and then we look at topics that seem to be relevant to staff and set up booths relating to each topic. On the CARF standards, we always have a quiz to show that staff are aware of the information and we keep the results as evidence for the accreditors. The other booths have various interactive things happening. This year’s topics were:
1.NO SCENTS MAKES SENSE – we have had a number of staff wearing scents which are very irritating for number of other staff members, so I did this booth with information on the effects of scents on people. I also had a quiz “No Matter the Language, No Scents Makes Sense” and displayed the sentence in various languages (mainly spoken by staff) and staff were to guess the language. Also, had handouts for natural and scent free products.
2.BACK CARE – as our staff deal with clients and also spend time doing reports, this was done to give good pointers on proper posture. (done by a physio)
3.SAFETY IN THE COMMUNITY – most of our consultants and therapists spend a fair amount of time in the community, so this booth covered how to stay safe when out working in the community – where to park, no cell phone while driving, how to get out of a place if you feel unsafe, etc.
4.SLIPS, TRIPS & FALLS – main injuries at our Centre – hazards in homes and community and how to prevent them. Had a quiz for completion.
5.ROUTINE PRACTICES – basic practices to keep yourself and others safe – risk assessment, hand hygiene, ppe, environmental and administrative controls. This is mandatory information that is to be disseminate to staff yearly, so had a quiz to ensure that people understood.
6.RISKS, HAZARDS & INCIDENTS – again mandatory information to be disseminated – so how to identify and differentiate between them.

CEO Mitch Mongell, Dr. Joseph Pedone, and Dr. Eric Sandwith shared details about the area's quality healthcare. Also, Northwest Florida State College's Athletic Director Ramsey Ross gave away tickets to the Feb. 20 basketball game in celebration of Destin Chamber of Commerce Night at the Raiders' Arena.
This was the state of affairs outside the airport. No planes were departing. Taxis were in great demand. Snow!
In this opportunity we worked with the story “We have given the land” by Juan Rulfo, for its environmental theme, which allowed the group to go “by the branches” with questions and scientific research.
With the simple methodology of Pre-texts the results are profound. We started from this challenging text to ask questions and simultaneously recall of popular Latin American practices such as “cordel literature” that consists of hanging the questions asked in the usual way from a clothesline. Inspired by the Northwest of Brazil where, in the absence of means of publication, population hangs poems on the ropes of hanging clothes.
The group was then invited to create living statues to interpret a rhetorical figure and then reflect about the activity by asking “what did we do?”. This simple practice made explicit how art develops deep understanding, and admiration for other sensitive / creative teachers.
Learning through creativity is the reiterated comment among teachers. In this particular case teachers refer to the way in which the activities carried out so far, have recovered the playful spirit as a strategy of learning and art as a way to achieve permanent learning. Teachers have fun playing with literature as they develop their attention to detail and their interpretive ability.

Around 51 "Lockdown Oscars". They will next move to Manchester, followed by Edinburgh and London. Tributes to hard working NHS staff and all keyworkers during the pandemic. They will be auctioned off for charity in Autumn 2021.
Had to see them close up before they left Birmingham.
