Both rabbits and eggs, in this case shapes not organic traces of these sources, stand for fertility of springtime. As such they do not feature in Passover commemorations of enslaved Jews in Egypt being spared when the angel of death killed first-born animals and humans thousands of years ago. Nor do fertility rites fit into the Christian variation on Passover, the week that led up to the execution of Jesus of Nazareth and the 2 men that flanked his own cross. And yet the pre-Christian symbols live on today in this seasonal selection of eggs and rabbits made of chocolate. Before the invention of chocolate (adding milk and sugar to the ground bean that Europeans were introduced to hundreds of years ago among the Aztecs) perhaps the fertility symbols appeared as real eggs laid by birds or shapes of rabbits baked from dough.
Most people, though, will see the display of Easter treats and consume them happily without wondering about how they came to be this way. After all, chocolate is chocolate, no matter the shape or foil decoration.

This was taken on 9th December 2009 in Leicester city as I’ve had this idea for a while and finding the right time and location took its time. I wanted to set I high class/fashion feel with a masquerade twist. Here I put the Models in a empty Fountain

Otro lago creado del deshielo del Vatnajökull es el Fjallsárlón, más pequeño y menos turístico, estábamos solos. Todo era silencio hasta que de repente un sonido largo como de cañón llenó el aire, allá donde termina la lengua de hielo y comienza el lago se acababa de desprender una gran parte que ya no era glaciar, ahora era iceberg. ¡Un sonido increible!

This is Fjallsárlón, another meltwater lake from Vatnajökull, but smaller and less visited than Jökullsarlon. Everything was quiet until a loud sound like a cannonball broke it. There, where the ice tongue meets the lake, a huge piece of ice had just detached himself from the glacier, now it was an iceberg. Amazing sound!

Dal mese di giugno 2022 è in corso lo scavo archeologico del giardino di Largo Corrado Ricci, tra Via dei Fori Imperiali, Via Cavour e Torre dei Conti.

Questa area della città conserva una stratificazione storica e urbanistica estremamente ricca.
Andando a ritroso nel tempo, infatti, il giardino era stato sistemato a seguito delle demolizioni operate negli anni Trenta del secolo scorso per la realizzazione di Via dell’Impero, l’odierna via dei Fori Imperiali, inaugurata nel 1932. Le demolizioni avevano raso al suolo l’ottocentesco Palazzo Nicolini insieme ad altre strutture abitative e commerciali la cui costruzione, grazie ai documenti di archivio, si può far risalire al XVII secolo. Ancora prima, tra XIII e XIV secolo, erano in questa zona strutture connesse alla fortezza urbana della nobile famiglia dei Conti, che aveva il suo perno nella grande torre voluta da papa Innocenzo III (1198-1216). In epoca romana, qui sorgeva il Foro della Pace, fatto costruire dall’imperatore Vespasiano (69-79 d.C.) tra il 71 e il 75.

Lo scavo attualmente in corso si prefigge di raggiungere e indagare proprio il settore nord-orientale di questo Foro, al confine con il muro perimetrale dell’attiguo Foro di Nerva all’altezza delle celebri “Colonnacce”.

Può accadere anche questo: che un cantiere archeologico si fermi per qualche tempo. È accaduto anche a Largo Corrado Ricci.
Al momento, infatti, le attività di scavo sono interrotte perché stiamo mettendo in sicurezza alcune parti dell'area di cantiere.
Per questo motivo sono sospese anche le visite guidate degli "Scavi in Comune" del mercoledì.

While in Florida in 2009, I went for a long drive and happened upon a tourist trap with a huge concrete conch shell outside (and I thought I took a photo of that, which would probably help me with the name of this place, but I can’t find it).
So I stopped, went inside, and was suitably mortified. Though not as mortified as these animals. I love animals though I’m definitely not a fan of PETA — but this stuff just stunned me.
I will say they were all magnificently stuffed. Top notch jobs all around! Hey, I can recognize a quality taxidermy job without sanctioning the practice of big game hunting, right? I mean, they’re already dead.
As I recall, they came from the collection of one person who presumably shot them all. I further presume he passed away and the family sold off the entire lot to this roadside museum.
This place had drop ceilings with styrofoam panels (like in most office buildings) which really kind of ruined the effect of being out on the savannah, but as cheesy roadside attractions go, I guess it only made it that much cheesier, which is...good, I guess.
But there were leaks in the ceiling and some places had water dripping into buckets on the floor. Water, moisture, Florida, humidity — none of that's good! And this was seven years ago, so I might have seen them at the peak of their condition.
Well, I mean, after they were killed, that is.
These were all taken with my even lousier pre-blogging camera, so the quality is just terrible.
