In cima al dosso sulla sinistra le rovine del fortino militare costruito durante la Prima Guerra Mondiale, nel 1917. Oggi è da considerarsi come l'unico fortino militare ancora in piedi nel crinale orobico facente riferimento alla linea Cadorna, che intendeva presidiare le vie di penetrazione verso la pianura lombarda. In questo caso l'edificio serviva a proteggere il passo da attacchi provenienti dalla Val Gerola.
La triste inutilità della guerra sembra sottolineata dalle condizioni meteo, il cammino da Premana è stato lungo per salire quassù ma ne è valsa la pena per soffermarsi a riflettere su queste rovine e sulla vera rovina del mondo.
I'm not a bit fan of high ISO in my pictures, but there was this beautiful sunset and there were a lot of little egrets just circling around.
I was very torn between staying with a wide lens, ND filter and everything set up for a wide sunset and switching around for a tele and completely changing almost all the settings to get some shots of the birds around.
Also surprising is that all of these birds were in a very central area - Puente de Miraflores in Córdoba, Andalusia. A very surprising and awesome location.
I believe this wild flower is Hesperis matronalis, sometimes called "Dame's rocket." Seen in white and pink varieties here along the road at Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia.

Bill open and wings outspread, an American White Pelican comes in for a landing. Last evening there were about 100 pelicans fishing and preening around North Point, a rock outcropping on our city's shoreline.
This flocks usually arrives at the beginning of June and often hangs around for a couple weeks before moving on. Birders, bird photographers, and the general public are all wowed by these amazing, prehistoric-looking birds :)

in Schwetzingen.
Einmal im Jahr wird in der Rhein-Neckar-Region das Schloss in Flammen aufgeführt. In Mannheim, Karlsruhe und im Schwetzinger Schlossgarten. Bei dieser Veranstaltung ist der Höhepunkt ein Orchester das Klassische Musik spiel und danach gibt es buntes Feuerwerk. Die ist ein Bild aus meinem Archiv.
It was fun to find a good spot in this river to take some photos, by stepping from one rock onto another. The river or mountain stream is the Rein da Medel, which flows from the Lukmanierpass to join the Rhine at Disentis.
It was a lovely spot for a picnic!

There I was Saturday night, out and about, looking for anything, not something or someone in particular when I crossed paths with her... Raised my camera, did a quick check on my framing and captured the moment. Later that evening, I was looking at the pictures and tried to edit this one, while in my head I was thinking why it felt so familiar and kind of intimate. And music came to the rescue yet again. I was thinking of naming it "Walking Alone" or something along this line, maybe touch a bit on the subject and call it a day, when it hit me. So what was it I hear me asking... It was that song that was playing at a nearby cafe the time I took the picture. The one from Springsteen, which goes like this...

There's a joke here somewhere and it's on me
I'll shake this world off my shoulders

And while she was alone, I could swear... she was just Dancing In The Dark...

this was taken in the Chicago Botanic Garden in December. The grass, which I imagine is not so green, has been covered in snow for quite a while. And March has come in like a lion. We are hoping it will go out like a lamb.

I love this image. Maybe it is because I have always wanted to take a shot like this. Maybe it was of the person who helped me take this shot.
I am very fortunate. Though you may not see in my facial expression, or hear it in my voice. I am lucky! I have people around me that are there for me no matter what. I am grateful. It's just another drop in the bucket.
