Another from my Mom's garden. She took up the rest of her Dahlias for the season, and is dreaming what she'll do with them next year. Her garden has been very good for her, to hear her tell it.. a retired school teacher, she knows about tending and about seasons. She'll be turning to her ongoing work on her family's geneology, now that Winter is nigh.
I photographed these in a vase, with my off-camera flash bouncing light off nearby surfaces, for a soft directional wash, in hopes the little curls would be highlighted (highlit? lol). I took the image into Photoshop and not only applied the usual enhancements after converting from the RAW image capture, but also enhanced the tones/separation of those curls, too, so they would match my experience of them.

Class has started! Image Manipulation & Compositing is the first class of this term and it was actually pleasant. Typically the first class is a drag. We introduce ourselves and go through the motions, but not in this class. We started right into an assignment. This is what I can up with. This is composed of 5 other images and a lot color and contrast correction. Can you tell? Sometimes I feel that the moon landing could have been fake because of how easy it is to composite images together (K. Nevermind, there was no Photoshop around then).

Using Lab Color mode, in Photoshop (Image>Mode>Lab Color), I used a Curves layer to force the colors of this clover-like lifeform further apart for emphasis.
[ I might have used a Hue/Saturation Layer for "Transport" ;-) ]

Kaleidoscope created from a computer rendered image I made with the Gnu Manipulation Program aka: GIMP.
The original image began as a pattern I made using the Rainbow Plasma XTNS plugin and major overkill with the Hue & Saturation tool.
This is a view of pattern in a macro taken at the Cobalt Gallery in Tubac. The original photo was a bit too soft, so I decided to add curves, ink outines and change the levels a bit to bring out the pattern.
Image Manipulation:
Fishing sounds good right about now, the largest one I ever caught, a 200 pound hammerhead shark, fighting that for 45 minutes to bring it to the boat. Totally memorable experience, just one of those things!

This water droplet hung right there for the Longest time I've had one do that, up to now.
I had sprayed one of the last blossoms of the calla lily I had rescued from the grocery store, for yet another droplet study. I could only get the maximum macro capability with my Tamron 70-300mm lens set all the way out to 300mm. Wishing for a wideangle perspective on this shot, so the droplet would have more prominence, I faked it via the Spherize filter in Photoshop, blended via layering and masking with the original, to get this perspective effect. Then, for the Classic effect, converting with Channel Mixer adjustment layer for the 'selenium toned' monochromatic coloring.
