I drove to Ocean City, NJ, the other night to observe and photograph the planting moon which occurs three days after the harvest moon. The ancients thought the moon was an omen as to how good next year's crops would be - the bigger and bluer the moon appeared over the ocean the better the crops. Looks like next year will be a big one. :o)

Thanks to Jerry Jones for the texture.

With a lone Ant guarding this bunch! I like the subtle tones in this (Pretty funny coming from me )

I strained my knee a little while jogging this week. I was on a roll too! I did walk briskly this evening but it wasnt the same. I suppose I have to let it heal a while now.

Yes, I double tie my sneakers.

Oh and got one of those as seen on TV Iron Gym's for the hubs to do pull ups with. I couldnt do one pull up! BUT it is extra fabulous for doing situps without someone to hold your feet.

A domesticated girl that's all you ask of me,

Darling it is no joke, this is lycanthropy.

The moon's awake now with eyes wide open.

My body’s craving, so feed the hungry.

I’ve been devoting myself to you Monday to Monday, and Friday to Friday.

Not getting enough retribution or decent incentives to keep me at it.

I’m starting to feel just a little abused like a coffee machine in an office.

So I’m gonna go somewhere cozy to get me a lover, and tell you about it.

There’s a She Wolf in your closet.

Open up and set it free (ah-woo!)

There’s a She Wolf in your closet.

Let it out so it can breathe.

This set of four images of the saucer magnolia in my driveway were done by the light of my off-camera flash, softened with a semi-inflated plastic Walmart shopping bag. I gathered the opening around the flash while encouraging the bag to stay as air-filled as possible.. like a big pillow/bubble... which I would hold wherever I wanted the soft light to come from. All educated guesswork, since I couldn't see the results before the shot, but could adapt by checking the review screen on the camera. I used the 18-55mm kit lens set toward the wider-angled end to get a more intimate perspective.

Some tonal tweaking, selective sharpening, and background suppression done in Photoshop.

Some promo work for Chris and Yann. These boys make up the Rockabilly Duo 'The Bonneville Barons' who have one foot firmly in the vintage era, with the costumes to match.

Like the Sarah-Jane shoot. I shot the boys against a grey background and composited them into the scene incorporating various photoshop techniques to enhance contrast and the 'dodge and burn' look.

Bugsy was no fool.. she knew that light had it in for her.. her catnap was 'one-eye-open'-only. What she would Do when it found her? .. as you see, just Keep her Eye on it!

The original image had more even lighting, but the feel of the moment included anticipation and focus, which I felt was best conveyed by guiding the attention to the principals.. 1-Bugsy, 2-The Light, and 3-Time. Enhancements and sharpening of the scanned negative were done via Photoshop. Scanning was done on the CanoScan 8400 F.

Second of two images - this is from a photograph I took of the framed square circle poster produced by jbum a few years ago. He collected images from the squared circle group pool and made a large poster that looks like a glowing peach to me. See the original poster at: www.krazydad.com, It is sold out now, so I was lucky to get two of them at that time.

The previous image also plays with the same poster, this time a different section and focus. Each are done using a version of the Amazing Circle technique. Use a square selection, then rotate 180 degrees. Next, go to Filter>Distort>Polar Coordinates. You may like to use the options as set in default there, or go to the other option.

Playing about with my fake reflections again. I also warmed the tones of the image up slightly.

I think this fake water is becoming an addiction. Here is another one.

back in colour - this is an 'original', the previously uploaded black and white was a later iteration

I finally was in the right place, half-hidden in a natural blind, when this beauty I had seen fishing all around the lake for at least two weeks decided to come land on the neighbor's diving board. I had a chance for about a dozen decent frames before she departed for another fishing spot on the shore. (I don't Know if it's a 'She' or not.. just an guess, since they look like the males, only slightly smaller.)

I hadn't noticed them in the area, 'til this year. Apparently they hang a little closer to the beaches. Though similar to cattle egrets, which Are common inland, these great egrets are larger and lankier.

Central heating, hot water and cooking for a year.

Yann, master of the slap bass from the Bonneville Barons.

I shot Yann against a neutral grey background and then it's all composited in with it's new background in Photoshop, layered and blended, with use of photo filters to give everything an overall balanced colour cast to help everything sit together.

These are the great bronze feet of the statue of the great John Singleton Copley that stands in Copley Square, Boston and my loveliest and most patient, uncomplaining model, Bonney. This is also a reworking of an old photo.

Kilroy's Pansies (see the note for where the strange little Kilroy guy seemed to show up). Everyone who really liked this picture liked it even more when I told them about the little Kilroy guy (or W.C. Fields or Winston Churchill), except my mother. She said in her imperious voice, "I'm sorry dear, but I wish you hadn't told me about him. You have ruined it for me!" Oh, well, I like a picture with a little tiny sort of hidden thing in it. This is a Polaroid Manipulation, alteration, impressionistic, or whatever you want to call it.

My first ever composite that doesn't have a human subject in it. Mind you, I think this tiger is a beautiful enough subject in his own right.

His journey is done. He is home, a place where he can live out his days in peace. I'm a sucker for a happy ending you know :)

Tiger is a CGI creation with lots of background elements cobbled together in photoshop to create his home in the forest.

95/365. I think this photo sums up Project 365 nicely. Everywhere I go and everything I see, I'm looking at it, wondering if it'll make a good photo.

A film noir edge to this one. Just hope the gun's safety is 'on' :)

My model Sarah-Jane is shot against a neutral grey background and composited into the scene.

All backgrounds are themselves composites of various elements to create a 'hopefully' dramatic theatrical quality.
