Yann, master of the slap bass from the Bonneville Barons.
The background is a photoshop creation which has been composited into the scene.
I shot Yann against a neutral grey background and then it's all composited in with it's new background in Photoshop, layered and blended, with use of photo filters to give everything an overall balanced colour cast to help everything sit together.

x1 Einstein640 boomed high just off centre right for main fill.
x1 AlienBees AB800 camera left and x1 AlienBees AB1600 camera right both shot through large softboxes to provide kicker light.

I made this from a photo just below, intending it to be a page header, but I couldn't get the aspect ratio right and kept getting that annoying head shake from Flickr, with no explanations, so I gave up.
I like the almost Japanese print look imparted to it by the color and line, though, so I'm posting it despite its strange shape. You will notice that the shark is gone. I apologize for that little deception, which did not belong in this image.
Though the dawn may be coming soon
There still may be some time
Fly me away to the bright side of the moon
And meet me on the other side.

Haha, that was my favorite song when I was little.
Anyway...I am so unbelievably proud of this picture...
I'm still in shock. I can't believe I actually created this. I <3 GIMP!

*The clouds in my eye were not photographed by me. I found the picture on a site, I just forget which.*
Post-processing inspired by Rosie!
Sure, it looks pretty much nothing like her stuff...
But I have great aspirations of having photos just as amazing as hers!!
So this is a step in the right direction... I think.
An impression of one of my Mom's garden dahlias as if by Blue Moonglow, created in Adobe Photoshop CS3.
(BEST VIEWED LARGE)
GAEA, THE EARTH MOTHER GODDESS, REJECTED GALACTUS OUT OF HAND AFTER HE HAD DEVOURED ALL LIFE ON HER WORLD, "I WOULDN'T MARRY YOU IF YOU WERE THE LAST BEING IN THE COSMOS !!!"
GALACTUS ACCEPTED HER CONDITIONS, "DONE."
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This attempt to put the "Gal" back into "Galactus" was way too tricksy. I shot the very large action figures (around 40 to 45 centimetres tall apiece) seperately just so I could keep them in focus, then isolated them in photoshop, where I also painted the devastated Earthscape.
The somewhat tedious bit was putting the straw and feathers back into Marilyn's headdress. Lots of feathery fun.
The lighting provided lots of amusement. I set the figures up on a light box so I'd get a nice soft glow coming from beneath them. Used a super bright L.E.D to highlight the Big G's face and a masked off torch to light up his hand. Simon Imberger, a filmmaking chum, has supplied me with some black foil and a good selection of cloth scrims to help grade the lights with.
I didn't mess with Ms. Monroe much lighting wise, just a bit of scrim over the bulb to soften her already creamy features a bit. I had to rig her gown with a fair bit of invisible thread to get that swirl on the hem.
The Galactus is the Marvel Legends composite action figure, and Marilyn is my partner Gail's most excellent Franklin Mint doll.
The concept of Marilyn as a giant personification of Gaea comes from John Varley's epic Science Fiction trilogy (Titan/Wizard/Demon) which I think is one of the jewels in the crown of the genre.
Except, now I've seen Galactus in "The Superhero Squad Show" with the amazing George Takei doing the character's voice this probably takes a whole new, even more bemusing meaning! Good on you George, hilarious performance!
I'm really happy with this outcome. And the idea :) I got super stressed out while photoshopping it, but I think it was well worth it.

* Another picture from the farm. I created the HDR from a single .jpeg and then edited the white balance using Photoshop. Applied a photoshop vintage action and a Fuji Velvia Emulator, changed the colour balance, added more sharpness on the field and desaturated everything else a little bit. The concept was to change the landscape into a surrealistic and eery atmosphere; but atractive at the same time, without losing the original feeling of this shot.
The pretty serving girl has set the table for supper and awaits the arrival of the master of the house. The table is laden with scrumptious treats, so go easy on the mutton; save a little space for dessert.
Alas, the fruit is wax, the cakes are plaster, the flowers are cloth, and the girl (sigh) is a mannequin. I saw this excellent display at the Topsham Museum in Exeter, Devonshire, UK in 2002, but only just got around to processing it. The cool air return grate in the center of the picture is a spoiler, and the girl needs to have her thyroid checked, judging by the exophthalmos (bug-eyed stare).
An image manipulation of three photos. The toy was photographed on a carpet at home. I brushed-in some beach sand from a photo of Shoal Bay in Anguilla and a sunset from St. Maarten from a few years ago. The overall comp was then softened and texturized.
Developed using Darktable 3.6.0. Additional post-processing in Photoshop.

Close in on a Nautilus Shell. I gave it some oil and saturation. (728 Shell Nautilus? (oil1 mosat))
This was a real Nautilus shell, but I treated my photo of part of it with oil paint and mosaic techniques on my art program. So *N* is for Nautilus here 16 years later in the ABCs and 123s group. I typed this little explanation 16 years, 2 weeks and 2 days after posting this.

Even at this stage of my life I am willing to change my ways - at least in photography.
Less than a decade age I firmly believed that digital manipulation of images was something that I would never do. I still decry extensive manipulation of images that seems to be the norm in fashion and product photography.
However, nowadays I am happy to mess with my images - to the extend of my hamfisted capabilities.
In this triptych the middle image is the original with minor LR adjustments.
The B&W conversion was done with Silver Efex Pro 2.
The bottom image was achieved by combining the top two images in PS.
A very similar result would likely be achieved just by desaturating the original - but it was more fun this way:)
Happy with coming 5th place, with this photograph in the World Bodypainting Festival digital art awards, 2010 at Seeboden. In 2011 the festival is moving to Portschach am worthersee. www.euroshots.com
