Blog post and see it bigger.

Thanks to Jerry Jones for the texture.

These 9 kaleidoscope images were created online with jbum's new online toy, an application to create kaleidoscope images from an uploaded photo. I used my favorite camera-toss style photo of Christmas lights from the series posted on Sunday this week. See this link for the original photo used. And then see this link to the online application at KrazyDad.com and this link to the Mini-Kaleid group pool on flickr. Thanks to Brenda Anderson for sharing her image and her links to this technique. And, as always, a big THANK YOU to jbum!

* Another picture from the farm. I created the HDR from a single .jpeg and then edited the white balance using Photoshop. Applied a photoshop vintage action and a Fuji Velvia Emulator, changed the colour balance, added more sharpness on the field and desaturated everything else a little bit. The concept was to change the landscape into a surrealistic and eery atmosphere; but atractive at the same time, without losing the original feeling of this shot.

Thanks to Jerry Jones for one of the textures.

FIrst tries with a new technique. It's bedtime for me now, so I with you all colorful dreams!

My second OOB.

The pretty serving girl has set the table for supper and awaits the arrival of the master of the house. The table is laden with scrumptious treats, so go easy on the mutton; save a little space for dessert.

Alas, the fruit is wax, the cakes are plaster, the flowers are cloth, and the girl (sigh) is a mannequin. I saw this excellent display at the Topsham Museum in Exeter, Devonshire, UK in 2002, but only just got around to processing it. The cool air return grate in the center of the picture is a spoiler, and the girl needs to have her thyroid checked, judging by the exophthalmos (bug-eyed stare).

An image manipulation of three photos. The toy was photographed on a carpet at home. I brushed-in some beach sand from a photo of Shoal Bay in Anguilla and a sunset from St. Maarten from a few years ago. The overall comp was then softened and texturized.

Developed using Darktable 3.6.0. Additional post-processing in Photoshop.

Close in on a Nautilus Shell. I gave it some oil and saturation. (728 Shell Nautilus? (oil1 mosat))

This was a real Nautilus shell, but I treated my photo of part of it with oil paint and mosaic techniques on my art program. So *N* is for Nautilus here 16 years later in the ABCs and 123s group. I typed this little explanation 16 years, 2 weeks and 2 days after posting this.

Even at this stage of my life I am willing to change my ways - at least in photography.

Less than a decade age I firmly believed that digital manipulation of images was something that I would never do. I still decry extensive manipulation of images that seems to be the norm in fashion and product photography.

However, nowadays I am happy to mess with my images - to the extend of my hamfisted capabilities.

In this triptych the middle image is the original with minor LR adjustments.

The B&W conversion was done with Silver Efex Pro 2.

The bottom image was achieved by combining the top two images in PS.

A very similar result would likely be achieved just by desaturating the original - but it was more fun this way:)

Happy with coming 5th place, with this photograph in the World Bodypainting Festival digital art awards, 2010 at Seeboden. In 2011 the festival is moving to Portschach am worthersee. www.euroshots.com

Another of my old favourite composites given a REDUX facelift and a bit of a colour shift.

Image Manipulation:

In the dark of night one can find things not able to be seen in the bright light of day. Tonight a waterfront bathed in the glow of civilization. Each night is different, if you're the adventurous type.

I sort of consider image manipulation to be just a bit more than a filter or enhancing, this taken a bit farther. For me I guess it is no clearly drawn line, just to note it.

LARGE ON BLACK

O say, can you see, by the dawn’s early light,

What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming,

Whose broad stripes and bright stars, through the perilous fight

O’er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming?

And the rockets’ red glare, the bombs bursting in air

Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there;

O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave

O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

On the shore, dimly seen thro’ the mist of the deep,

Where the foe’s haughty host in dread silence reposes,

What is that which the breeze, o’er the towering steep,

As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?

Now it catches the gleam of the morning’s first beam,

In full glory reflected, now shines on the stream

’Tis the star-spangled banner. Oh! long may it wave

O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

And where is that band who so vauntingly swore

That the havoc of war and the battle’s confusion

A home and a country should leave us no more?

Their blood has washed out their foul footsteps' pollution.

No refuge could save the hireling and slave

From the terror of flight, or the gloom of the grave,

And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave

O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand

Between their loved homes and the war’s desolation,

Blest with vict’ry and peace, may the Heav’n-rescued land

Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation!

Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,

And this be our motto: "In God is our Trust"

And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave

O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave.
