I was looking to pare down the two hundred (literally) shots uploaded to Lr from my wonderful Summit Lake hike and thought of this one first. I remember when I took this thinking 'this isn't gonna work', but I loved that tree and rocks and that snag, maybe it would be good enough for FB so my Dad can see it. I blew it up and it was chair spin time!
I looked at my photostream last week and decided I was showing too many Rainier shots, so here's a little less...... :-) (Oh, I crack myself up!)
One of a great many large icicles hanging outwards from the cliffs at Middle Cove Beach, Conception Bay, NL
This is a closer view of the ice I showed in yesterday's post. I am amazed at how variable the patterns and textures can be in slabs of ice right next to each other.

Voetjes tussen de basaltblokken, plat op de buik, camera op het ijs...... :-)
The water level of the river was quite low, hence the rapids had more quieter parts. Perfect grounds to hunt shots like this.
Recently, a southernly snow and wind storm pushed lots of pack ice to our shores. At Paradise Beach, which is northeast of Grand Marais, the pack ice froze fast to the shore. At places the thick ice extends out over 50 yards. I found this great ice gully capturing sheet ice broken up by a slight Lake Superior swell. It was 0F when I took the photo. Brrrr.
Looks really cool on black, so hit "L" to see it.

I am revisiting some Iceland photographs on the recommendation of a friend. Sadly he will never see them but I hope he would have like them
