I came across these lovely ice patterns on the bonnet of a car, it reminded me of the frozen windows we used to get in my childhood. I just added a bit of contrast and vibrancy to enhance the patterns.
In montagna le stalagmiti si formano una goccia alla volta, alternando il disgelo al freddo della notte... e dopo alcuni cicli, arrivano ad assomigliare ai denti di un mostro di ghiaccio

One of my attempts for the Hot/Cold theme for MacroMondays. It was an exposure triangle challenge in itself. In this shot I like the ice, unfortunately the burner was not hot enough to be seen. But, I thought it was still worthy of a macro shot.
I am revisiting some Iceland photographs on the recommendation of a friend. Sadly he will never see them but I hope he would have like them
Explore #1, Feb 22nd 2009. Thank you everyone!
Back again after a small break. Feels great to post again, as there have been thousands of good (=bad) excuses not to have anything worthy to post lately... Anyway, here we go again!
This was shot yesterday evening in Lauttasaari by the shore. Winter is here and the weather was rather cold. Still, you could see open areas of moving water among the ice.
For this shot I used a my Lee 0.9 hard edge GND to get the result. Have a nice Sunday evening everyone!

The timeless practice of ice fishing on the Ottawa River. The owner brought his trailer on the ice and cut a hole in the floor for fishing.
Also making this #7 of my Canadian Flag series.

Not sure what happened to the left side of the frame. That unpredictably of film.

The point where the ice on the surface of Dubh Loch changes. To the right it caught the winds and is thinner than the smoother, thicker and clearer ice to the left.
BENNY: (licks ice cream)
What do you think of the ice cream, my dear lady Daisy-Maude?
DAISY-MAUDE: (licks ice cream)
Oh...my Benny...this...is...sooo delicious.
I don't know which scoop to lick first.
They look so yummy... and all those colours together... I think they're beautiful.
BENNY:
I only had enough money for 10 scoops.
I would have liked to get you a seat, but I've spent all my money, Daisy-Maude.
DAISY-MAUDE:
That's okay, Benny. I don't need a seat.
As long as I can be with you.
They both take a big lick of ice cream on each side.
BENNY: (Benny accidentally licks Daisy-Maude's nose)
Oops... sorry, Daisy Maude... I didn't realise I was licking your nose.
DAISY-MAUDE: (giggles)
Oh... I don't mind, my dear Benny.
Can I lick your nose now?
BENNY:
Go ahead.
DAISY-MAUDE:
Oh...Benny...this is so romantic.
I love all the ice cream and your beautiful blue colour.
I will never forget this moment.
BENNY: (cheeks turning red),
Thank you, my lovely lady.
Thank you so much www.flickr.com/photos/40262251@N03/ for using the picture of Daisy-Maude in my photomontage
This is Northwest Fjord, looking back toward Resurrection Bay from near Northwest Glacier. The ice is what has calved off the glacier and is slowly making its way toward the bay. It will melt long before it gets there, as the water in the bay is a toasty 50 F (more or less).

It has been a while since I posted macro ice. This year was not a good year for ice photography but I managed to capture a few.
Another pretty I found on my tour of our yard during the snow/sleet/icy rain storm. The mountain fire andromeda were beautiful but I hope not damaged by the ice. Press "L" for the best view of the ice drops.

Tasman Glacier, New Zealand.
The Tasman Glacier is retreating faster than ever and will ultimately disappear, glaciologists are warning.
In 1973 there was no lake in front of the Tasman Glacier. But new measurements had taken in 2008 indicating the lake, formed by ice melt from the glacier, is now 7km long, 2km wide and 245m deep. The lake has been formed as the ice which makes up the glacier melts.
