Vatnajökull (meaning Glacier of Rivers), also known as the Vatna Glacier, is the largest and most voluminous Icelandic glacier, and one of the largest in area in Europe. It is located in the south-east of the island, covering more than 8 percent of the country.

Is it Spring yet? Doesn't look like it today! Last week we already had trees in bloom! Hopefully we've seen the last of Old Man Winter for now....

If you're worried that, from now on, this page turns everything grey, make no mistake, for every icelandic picture under thick, heavy, impenetrable clouds, an extra 40 pictures with (sometimes) blue sky comes along.

Also, I don't know many more destinations where you go on purpose, knowing that there might not be any sun.

Due to the foggy humid weather things got an icy layer.

Breaking the ice, wetting my fingers

Sinking in the deep, its beauty lingers

On my skin that now does shine

Coated with sweet natures wine

That i break with greedy fingers

They slip inside and passion lingers

three more photos from the last day of the 2021 texas ice storm. 2/3

Just back from my first trip to Iceland and I thought I'd process a one from the Breiðamerkursandur Ice beach opposite the Jökulsárlón glacier lake.I honestly thought I had no keepers from this location as the wind, rain and sea spray were absolutely battering my camera, even with a rain cover over you have to constantly wipe the lens and hope for the best whilst fighting the wind at the same time. A really surreal place with black sand and the white, blues and diamond like ice washing up on the shore as you hear them crackle.

...have always been my favorite way to eat chocolate!

You do not see foxes on the ice very often.

In fact neither do we see much ice here most winters. (-;

For The Smile on Saturday group - theme "Holding"

Tahquamenon Falls, in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, was mostly frozen over when we visited yesterday. This view shows some of the detail in the covering ice.

My dinos are very curious, when I checked in the freezer and found some who had obviously been too curious about what that container of water was doing and hopped in just before I put the lid on. Luckily freezing did them no harm, and they just defrosted then spent the next hour leaping around my lounge like monkeys 😂

The destruction is as you'd expect. Luckily they are housetrained, unlike the moose.

The theme for this CrAzY Tuesday (7-Feb-2023) is 'Frozen in ice'.

May all your Tuesdays be CrAzilY HaPpY!

Seascape with icebergs - smaller and bigger ones. I realy like the 1000 shapes of the ice.

Jökulsárlón is a glacial lagoon, bordering Vatnajökull National Park in southeastern Iceland. Its still, blue waters are dotted with icebergs from the surrounding Breiðamerkurjökull Glacier, part of larger Vatnajökull Glacier. The Glacier Lagoon flows through a short waterway into the Atlantic Ocean, leaving chunks of ice on a black sand beach. In winter, the fish-filled lagoon hosts hundreds of seals.

Recently I took an afternoon riverfront walk while the sun was shining and the sky was a brilliant blue, The sunlight caught the chunks of ice floating down the river and made them sparkle-this is one that I caught.

Captured an oak leaf skating by on the ice for a cold shot on Crazy Tuesday.

The point where the ice on the surface of Dubh Loch changes. To the right it caught the winds and is thinner than the smoother, thicker and clearer ice to the left.
