"Crescent House"
- Charred cedar, stained cedar, stained spotted gum, timber framing, steel beam, aluminium plate, micaceous iron oxide.
Looking back from whence we entered the "Crescent House" we see how the architect has played with darkness, light and geometry. Unfortunately the charred cedar is easily marked, but those little holes create the impression of starlight against a night sky.

Sonoran Desert IV: swipe left for the full panorama. Another in a series from the Sonoran Desert in Arizona. I had a great spot picked out for shooting and when I arrived it was occupied by campers. Why do campers always like the prettiest spots, lol? Anyway, I went up a dirt road trying to get above this mountain lake and this was the best view I could find. Not the best foreground but the sky was fabulous with lots of red airglow, a bit of green airglow, as well as light pollution from Phoenix. Panorama, 24 mm, f/2.8, 15 sec., ISO 8,000.
This is the last of my colour iceberg images. I have really enjoyed the blues and greens of the colour images, but I have a few b&w and infrared images I will post after this.
In June, 2018, I went to Newfoundland, Canada, iceberg hunting. Every year, icebergs that have calved off glaciers in Greenland (and a few from Baffin Island), travel south and past Newfoundland in May and June along what's called Iceberg Alley. The snow that fell to form these icebergs, fell between 5,000 and 10,000 years ago! That snow forms into glaciers and every year, massive icebergs calve from the glaciers in Greenland and Baffin Island and begin their journey to Newfoundland. It takes two or three years for them to travel the 1,600 miles and they spend one or two winters frozen into the pack ice. By the time they arrive in Newfoundland, they only have four to six weeks before collapse or melt and disappear. 2016 and 2017 were great iceberg seasons (though they caused some havoc in shipping lanes), but 2018 there were very few icebergs to be found. It was only on the last 4 days of an 11-day trip, and at the very tip of Newfoundland (St. Anthony) that I managed find and see icebergs up close, but they were worth the wait.
I've written a blog post about my Newfoundland trip if you'd like to read it.
If you’d like to see all the Newfoundland images together, I’ve updated my website and you can see them all on the Galleries page.

Overlooked Falls IV
Little Carp River
Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park
Michigan
Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park in Michigan is home to a collection of hidden waterfalls that often go unnoticed amidst the grandeur of its more famous attractions. While the majestic Presque Isle River Falls draws the lion’s share of visitors, the park’s lesser-known cascades, like Greenstone Falls and Overlooked Falls, provide serene escapes for those willing to venture off the beaten path.
The Gotha G.IV was a German heavy bomber used for strategic bombing during the First World War. It was introduced in Early 1917, and saw action until the end of the war.
Well guys, Here it is! After about a month of designing, building, and ordering parts, my Gotha G.IV model is finally done. I'm really happy with how it turned out, but it's not perfect. The wings should probably be longer, and there should be a few more struts. Regardless, This thing is coming to BFNJ with me this weekend so make sure to stop by if your going! Also, Credit to Max for the mechanic and crate.
If you actually read that entire thing, thanks.
-Enjoy!
6 days of >104F fever... today we spent 8 hours in the hospital... none of the tests could even conclude if the illness is bacterial or viral... at least the iv fluids seemed to help enough that we didn't have to stay the night... and her fever is down... she was so sad... she said she felt like a pincushion... she spoke in such a weak whisper... breaks our hearts... & katie was so brave... a stiff upper lip and katie held still while they put in the iv... i am so sad and proud and hopeful that she will get well soon...
