One of the capacities gradually developed by a photographer as time passes by is a "trained" eye for capturing a successful frame ... When you see the scene, it actually calls you to enclose it inside your camera's sensor ...

The two absolutely identical (from a technical - constructive point of view) old, wooden doors stay close to one another forming a formidable mirroring photograph at Nikiforos of Drama's prefecture ... A village of no more than 400 permanent residents but with an extremely interesting variety of old, poor yet architecturally interesting and still absolutely inhabitable if properly maintained dwellings ...

The photograph was taken somewhere around late afternoon hours, without a tripod and with the lowest possible ISO value set on my D90 in order to grasp details as clearly as possible .... Most of my effort was focused in actually framing the scene properly ...

NIKON D90 DSLR with Nikon Nikkor 18 - 55 lens, Manual Mode, shutter speed 1/60s, ISO 160, f 8, focal length 29 mm, use of HOYA ND X 2 filter, cloudy weather white balance, center weighted average metering mode, no flash, no tripod ...

With that fire,

Therefore, you must keep that fire lit,

Expired Kodak Portra 160 NC film shot with a Canon Elan7

Fireworks with an iphone with all auto: light, focus, exposure etc.

Not easy: ISO 160. Exposure time 1/25 and aperture 2,2. No tripod.

You need to let the first part of explosion "go" and press your shutter in the late part of the "explosion" - or you will end up with a non focus overexposed photo.

In this case maybe 1 of 10 photos was OK.

The jumping in exposure may be seen in the short video clip from the event.

CANON 6D - focal lenght 35 mm, f14, 1/320, iso 160.

A high dynamic range shot of the South-SouthWest aspect of the Byzantine church erected in AD 1283 at “Porta–Panagiá” (near Trikala, Greece). It is a cross-roofed, three-aisled basilica with a raised middle aisle (architectural style). An impressive hexadecagonal (sixteen-sided) cupola (aka dome) forms a regular hexadecagon (16-sided polygon), much like an octagonal star, above the exonarthex of the church. In Western art, the first known painting depicting a perspective image of a regular hexadecagon is Raphael's famous ‘The Marriage of the Virgin’ (AD 1504).

The “exonarthex” (the enclosed passage between the main entrance and the nave of the church) is seen on the left. The cross-shaped exonarthex was added later to the church (in late 14th century, I was told); so there is a remarkable difference between the stonework styles of the exonarthex and the rest of the church (Nave and Sanctuary).

The church is dedicated to the Assumption of Blessed Virgin Mary (aka the Madonna or Our Lady). The church celebrates on August 23, i.e. on the “Apodosis” (aka “Octave” or giving-back or afterfeast) of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
