Goedereede is a little town and former municipality in the western Netherlands, in the province of South Holland. The former municipality had a population of about 11,000 in 2010. It consisted of the west part of the island of Goeree-Overflakkee. Goedereede merged with Dirksland, Middelharnis, and Oostflakkee into the new municipality of Goeree-Overflakkee on January 1, 2013. The town have a population of about 2,000 in 2012.
Goedereede received city rights in 1312 from Sir Gereart van Voorne. The future Pope Adrian VI (1459–1523) was at one time pastor of the parish church of Goedereede. During a great fire in Goedereede in 1482 the old "Katharina Church" and its tower were destroyed. A new church was erected in 1512 beside the Toren van Goedereede (Goederede Tower), which still stands today.[ Goederede went into a long decline, losing trade to better-sited ports. There were insufficient funds to maintain the church. In 1706 the dilapidated building was pulled down, but the tower was preserved.

I've been down here many times trying to get a good shot, but could never get a good compositon so glad to finally get one.
It was bloody cold, wet and windy but I'm pleased with the result.

A set of nine is called a nonuple. The term "nonuple" is derived from the Latin word "nonus," meaning ninth.
In mathematics, a nonuple refers to a collection or grouping of nine elements or objects.

An very old brass or bronze geometry instrument, date unknown. Inscriptions in French, have sections to calculate equal parts, sides of a polygon, Cos, arch and chords, etc. Displayed over an Universal History 1885 book.
Science needs basic principles, a little history and a lot of effort to understand things.
It was over my father desk for many years, after my college years figure out how to use some of the functions in this old instrument. Still have things I don't know what they are or what they are used to.

Comings and goings at Knaresborough Station.
This is the final photograph from a delightful afternoon photographing between Harrogate and Knaresborough.
This shot is a mixture of two images, I needed 8000 ISO at 1/80th second to capture the trains, it was a simultaneous arrival and departure, this was blended it with an ISO 160 1.0 second exposure shot after the trains had departed.
The day featured in my latest Youtube video.

The near impenetrable foliage beside the Pieman River, Western Tasmania.
Shot from the bow of a boat nudging the bank and at a focal length of only 21mm - this frame gives some idea of how steep is the shore and how thick is the rainforest is right down to the water.
Remarkably, this area has been selectively logged for Huon Pine and in a number of places, mined for gold. With rainfall measured in meters, the bush in the main recovers quite quickly however the pines will take a couple of thousand years to be replaced.
I tried it in colour but the shift to B&W really made the depth in the ferns pop so here it is.

This is so typical me, on a mountan top at sunset, doing what I must because I can.
Winter is coming, darkness is approaching fast from above. A wall of clouds rises from below, thick white fog that takes away your vision and orientation. Soon it will be like falling into a glass of milk and the light will go out. I have no idea how we're going to descent into the valley. But I just can't stop. Because it's so beautiful...
Fortunately, I know the mountain and the path to the valley quite well, I've been here before, several times, mostly in good weather. :)
And yes, everything ended well. Obviously... :))

A 6 x shot focus stack of peacock jumping spider Maratus neptunus from NSW Australia. Shot with Canon 5Dmkii and Mpe 65mm 1-5x macro lens. Each individual shot was at F9 , ISO 160, 1/125 sec.
As I was growing up my BFF's mother would spend hours crocheting doilies. They were so fine and intricate. Spider webs have always reminded me of doilies. They are so delicate looking yet so strong as to ensure that the spider's prey is captured.
