Watching Sunset in a valley after the sun dips behind a mountain is an odd experience to me. I like to shoot into the sun. I think this is teaching me to look for colors beyond the obvious light. This is a earlier part of my shoot at Graveyard Fields. There is a river in the lower right of the image, which I believe I will be camping in soon. Stay tuned for another shoot from Graveyard fields soon!

Turkey vulture and "God rays." Taken late afternoon yesterday, with crazy clouds and super dynamic light. I was hiking the canyon rim and looking for landscape compositions, but this guy started soaring overhead, and he gave me "the shot." Cue Collective Soul's "Shine."

I was dodging cacti and running around to adequately position myself relative to the sun and tree, as the sun was setting over the distant Sangre de Cristo Mountains. It was just me and the tree on the high plains of northeast New Mexico.

Have seen the grey heron many times, but was not able to take a decent photo. However, this time it was possible when I met him while walking to the fields in the deep countryside and finally I could take him home in my camera 😄

"Abandonment" has always been one of my favourite photo themes ... As a matter of fact it has always been one of photographic Art's most popular themes ever ... The colours, the mood, the shady and "spooky" environment, the unique way "nature" loves to "embrace" and "absorb" almost any kind of remnants and derelict material serve always as a powerful message carrier to any viewer ...
In my village I unfortunately have the chance to come face to face with the concept of abandonment, emanating from almost any direction I turn my eyes onto ... Being congenitally optimist nevertheless, I usually try to trace down the "bright" and beautiful side of it, if any ... In most cases I like to "interpret" the concept not as an end but rather as a beautiful new beginning or as a promising continuation of an intermediate state ...
