Photographed September 2019 / Agfa Isoly iii 120 format viewfinder camera (4cm X 4cm negatives) with Agfa COLOR-APOTAR 60mm/3.9 lens. Film was ILFORD HP5+ metered ASA 200 developed in PMK PYRO (5ml A + 10ml B > 600ml, 7min 40sec, 20*C). Negative was digitalised via a Pentax k3 DSLR with EL-NIKKOR enlarging lens on a helicoid extension tube. Image was transferred to an iPad mini and edited on the iPad screen using the Snap Seed application. I picked up one of these Isoly iii cameras for ten quid on eBay....after cleaning the muck and fungus out of the (three element) lens and re-calibrating the focus to give sharp images at infinity this little camera tuned in a fairly good result. I've always liked the 4cm x4cm square format but with the demise of 127 film, cameras like the Yashica 44 or 'baby' Rolleiflex have become more or less obsolete: this is a big pity as the square format 4cm X 4cm has a lot to offer.

With sales of his refrigerators declining, Renzo Rivolta, owner of Iso SpA, turned to making cars.
Introduced in 1953, the egg-shaped Isetta (= little Iso) was like nothing seen before, boasting a hinged front for entry, the steering column and instruments swinging out with the door to facilitate easy access to the bench seat. Power was provided by a 236 cc two-stroke 'Twingle' motor with two pistons sharing a single combustion chamber, which drove the closely-spaced twin rear wheels. All Isettas have a sunroof, to enable occupants to escape should someone park too close to the front-opening door.
The Isetta was also produced under licence in Belgium, France, Spain, Argentina and Germany and is one of the most successful microcars built : over 175.000 units in all. In the 1954 Mille Miglia, Isettas claimed the first three places in the economy class, the winner averaging over 70 km/h.

This was done in the woods, before a paranormal walk. 5 RAW shots taken at ISO 6,400. Handheld as they were walking. I let Photomatix Pro automatically de-ghost the movement. Can't believe how good it is at at, at least on this one.

Engineer Giotto Bizzarrini is legendary for his early accomplishments as project engineer for three of the most important cardevelopments in Italian automotive history : the Ferrari 250 GTO, Lamborghini’s original 3500GT V-12 engine and Renzo Rivolta’s Iso Grifo. By 1964 those were in Bizzarrini’s past, and he opened his own company, “Prototipo Bizzarrini S.a.r.l., Progettazione e Construzioni Automobili,” in Livonia, well away from Italy’s automotive capitals of Modena and Bologna. There he began building extra-high performance versions of the Iso Grifo, but in limited numbers and with a different mission, for the A3C, as it was designated, was for racing. All told, Bizzarrini built 20 Iso Griffo A3/C coupes using lightweight riveted aluminum alloy bodies fabricated by Piero Drogo’s Carrozzeria Sports Auto. Interestingly, these Giugiaro-designed bodies used over 7.000 rivets ; although the practice was nothing new in a race car, other Italian designers heaped scorn on the very idea. Bizzarrini was unmoved; his new lightweight machine had a top speed of 168 MPH thanks to its slippery shape and the 327/365 HP Corvette engine inside.

Reed Flute Cave in Guilin, a natural underground chamber full of stalactites and stalagmites formed over millions of years. It offers a magic land of stone pillars, stone curtains, birds, plants and animals in fantastic shapes and colors.
It was a welcome respite from the incredibly high humidity outside. It was soo much cooler in the caves!
