This is a shot of Felucas on the Nile in Luxor. It was a throw away, as the ISO was set way to high. I just looked at it again on my new LCD monitor, and I really love the feel and texture of it!

We celebrated my in-laws who recently had their 50th Wedding Anniversary by eating out this Sunday evening. Was a great time, and once the daylight dropped outside to blue hour, I pulled out the camera to shoot some portraits as we sat at the table. My eldest daughter here was across from me, and I was able to take this capture without using the flash in the low lighting. It was much darker there than what this photo shows, and it is just amazing what the higher ISO images that the sensors can capture without the need of a flash.
Also having the image stabilizer on this lens helped here as I was zoomed in at 105mm and hand held at 1/30 second.

I love this little pocket travel zoom camera. This was taken at ISO 3200 using the Pro Low Light Mode. Most compacts look like water color paintings once you get to ISO 3200. Really loving this little camera.
Would love them in aqua, white, or pink. (Pink not shown but I know it exsisted...I got a teenie scrap in a swap)

MARTIN PESCATORE
Il martin pescatore comune o martin pescatore europeo (Alcedo atthis) è la specie più diffusa di martin pescatore, e l'unica presente in Europa. È lungo 15-16 cm e pesa 40-44 grammi circa. È molto diffuso in Europa, Asia e Africa.
A Cronovilla nidificano un paio di coppie di Martini, i passaggi di questi uccelli sono molto frequenti così come le soste sui posatoi della terza vasca.

ALCEDO ATTHIS
Descrizione
Le piume sono sgargianti, di colori tra il blu e il verde, ma sul collo e sulla gola si notano evidenti macchie bianche. Le parti superiori presentano una colorazione che a seconda della rifrazione della luce può risultare blu brillante o verde smeraldo. Il petto, invece, ha una colorazione arancione vivace per i maschi, più castana per le femmine.
La testa è abbastanza grande, con un becco lungo, robusto nero; le ali e la coda corti raccolgono il corpo. Le zampette sono piccole e di un rosso intenso. Di solito il maschio ha colori più vivaci della femmina, perché durante il corteggiamento gli servono per conquistarla con le sue sfumature.
Biologia
Lo si osserva spesso posato sui rami o sui paletti presso l'acqua, da dove si tuffa per catturare le sue prede.
In genere vola basso, rasente l'acqua, il suo volo è veloce, con un frullo d'ali. Spesso fa lo "spirito santo". Riesce cioè a rimanere fermo in volo sopra la superficie dell'acqua fino a che, individuata la preda, si getta in picchiata catturandola nel breve lasso di tempo di due o tre secondi.
Alimentazione
L'habitat ideale per il Martin Pescatore sono i luoghi dove è presente acqua e cibo, ossia pesci, che costituiscono la sua alimentazione.
La dieta del Martin Pescatore è infatti quasi esclusivamente a base di pesce. Nonostante la modesta grandezza, il Martin Pescatore riesce a catturare prede anche più grandi del suo corpo. In alcune occasioni, in mancanza delle sue prede preferite, cattura piccoli animali acquatici quali larve, insetti acquatici come le libellule o piccoli granchi, a volte anche molluschi. Quando ha catturato la preda, il Martin Pescatore ritorna sul masso e a colpi di beccate l'uccide e l'ammorbidisce. Non essendo in grado di mangiare tutto il corpo degli animali, lische e scaglie vengono rigurgitate costituendo i cosiddetti boli.
Riproduzione
Le coppie tra Martin Pescatore generalmente si formano a partire dal mese di gennaio. Per corteggiare la femmina, il maschio emette dei brevi trilli e durante il volo di parata insegue la femmina. Per conquistare la femmina il maschio mostra il blu brillante sul petto e dona alla propria compagna la preda appena catturata. Prima di passare all'accoppiamento si picchiettano leggermente il becco, esprimendo la loro intesa a formare una nuova famiglia.
I piccoli, che di solito nascono tra marzo e agosto, vengono posti in un tunnel sotterraneo lungo le rive alte, con un'apertura di circa 15/17 cm di diametro e lungo da 45 a 130 cm, che protegge i piccoli dalle intemperie e dai predatori. Per vivere in tali condizioni questa specie ha sviluppato una particolare resistenza alla concentrazione di anidride carbonica che nel buco profondo del nido raggiunge il 6% contro lo 0,03% di quella nell'aria.
Quando la femmina deporrà le uova, di un numero compreso tra 5 e 8, per 19/21 giorni esse dovranno essere covate da entrambi i genitori.

The most obvious difference is how compact the tessellation can be; the completed tess required 80ths, while the predecessor required 112ths, for the same number of iterations.
The idea of making this tess is one I had from a couple months ago. This CP had been sitting on my computer for all this time, but I finally got around to folding it because a friend of mine tried this 6-hub section, and it came out looking great; so I just had to fold the full thing myself.

The Iso Grifo is an Italian automobile produced by Iso Rivolta between 1963 and 1974.
The car developed 390 hp (290 kW) in its production form and could reach 110 km/h (68 mph) in first gear. Renzo Rivolta also showed a one-off Grifo A3/L Spyder at the Geneva auto show. The production of Iso Grifo GL started in 1965. In October 1966 the very first Grifo (car #97) with Targa Top was shown at Turin. This was one of 13 Series I Targas ever built; later, four series II Targas were built.
In 1968 the Grifo 7 Litri was introduced with a Chevrolet L71 big-block engine, a Tri-Power version of the 427 engine. This seven-liter power plant required changes to the car to fit, and a hood scoop was needed because of the engine's height. It produced 435 hp (324 kW) at 5800 rpm and the factory claimed it could reach a top speed of 300 km/h (186 mph). This particular 7 Litri is still lost.
