Shot thru a Kodak Duaflex II with a Canon 5D Mark II.
Strobist: 1 Profoto 600w/s Monolight at 1/8 power thru a ebay version silver beauty dish with a 20degree grid directly overhead of model. 1 acute b600r thru a 10degree grid at backdrop and a 580 EX II witha snoot and a blue gel at 1/64 power shot at the viewfinder of the Duaflex. The only photoshop work is a contrast adjustment and the crop.

King Rameses II was also known as Ozymandias in Greek which, in the balance of things, are two pretty impressive names. He is often regarded as one of the greatest, most celebrated and most powerful pharaohs of the Egyptian Empire. A feat which I think we can all agree is pretty special considering the history books are littered with failed, feared and hated kings.
So that, in a nuthsell, was my inspiration for this little number. I came across the idea whilst doing a bit of 'research' (or, more accurately, viewing random articles on wikipedia) during a slow afternoon when i came across the big man. You might say "That isn't research" but you'd be wrong. Strictly speaking I was just amusing myself on the internet but inspiration strikes when we least expect it and i've read some pretty amazing stuff pressing the random article button. So therefore it was work. Sometimes something a bit different can recharge the old tanks. As it happens I also know a crow called Rameses but that is a different story entirely...

QE II, a waterfront venue pub and bistro, is also a hotspot for morning shooting in Penang. In contrast of its happening at night, morning at QE II had shown endless calmness.
Weather was not too bad when we arrived at the spot but as the sun rises, stormy cloud gradually cover the whole sky. The side lit QEII has a golden tone that stand out very well in this moody scene
The Pz Kpfw VI Ausf B Tiger II, also known as the Royal Tiger or King Tiger.
This 68-tonne tank had a crew of five and was equipped with an 88mm main armament and two 7.92mm machine-guns. Commanded by Sepp Franzl, it was was part of SS Panzer Battalion 101 in Normandy in June 1944. Its transmission broke down near Beauvais and it was abandoned by its crew before being shot up and captured by a Sherman commanded by Sergeant Roberts of the 23rd Hussars.
Recovered back to Britain it was an exhibit at the Royal Military College of Science at Shrivenham for many years before arriving at The Tank Museum, Bovington, Dorset where it is seen above. The hull and turret are coated with Zimmeritt, a sorty of putty that dries hard and was intended to prevent magnetic mines from sticking to the armour.
A total of 489 Tiger IIs were built and were far and away the most powerful tanks in the world in 1944. But there were never enough of them to make a lasting impact.

The Bradley GT II is a US built fiberglass coupe based on the VW Beetle. There was a "I" version, more primitive and simple, which was pretty succesful with 6000 cars built, and in the early 80ies came the GT II with a more advanced design, generally a different car. Only some 500 were made before the company went bankrupt.

Here’s another one of those productions that was a long time in the making. Originally Holley and I talked about doing this shoot about three or four years ago. Life, logistics, and time like in most cases found their way into the equation. So here we are a few years later showing off what hard work and dedication can accomplish. I can honestly say that everyone on set felt the URGENT NEED to go and work out afterwards! Holley you rocked this shoot. I can’t wait for the next one!

Pentacon Pentona II with Meyer-Optik Görlitz Trioplan 3.5/45 in Priomat shutter.
Nice little camera, very simple and very comparable to contemporary Beirette cameras. The first Pentonas were made in the Fifties bei the Kamera Werkstätten (KW), this Pentona II was introduced in 1963 and bears the sign of Pentacon, the Ernemann Tower. So, some people think it was made by Zeiss Ikon -- I couldn't imagine. KW became part of Pentacon, but why should they stop producing this camera? So it's the little sister of all those Prakticas...
It has some pecularities: advance lever on the left side, a really awful rewind "disk" on the bottom and the film pressure plate has a silver color. I don't know if this is a good idea.
The Pentona features a Priomat shutter, also the Beirette or Certo KN 35 do. It is a so called "everset" shutter - it needn't to be cocked before firing. It has only three speeds (1/30, 1/60 and 1/125 s) and B. You can release the shutter only with loaded film, more clearly: the sprocket wheel in the film chamber must be turned to release the double exposure lock.
I had some trouble with the shutter, it mostly refused to open when the shutter button was pressed. You can read more about this here. I didn't solved the problem completely. With some fine sandpaper I made the hook more looking like a hook. It helped, so the shutter is almost reliable.
The lens is the Meyer Trioplan with 3 elements, and there are some impressive pictures on the net made with this lens. Later is was replaced by the Meyer Domiplan. Beirette cameras are commonly equipped with the Ludwig Meritar.
