Ran across this on the way to Jump Creek today. I suggested to my friend that we pull in, play ignorant, and ask if this was the road to Jump Creek ;-) I figured we'd get one of two responses from the property owner...either a huge belly laugh, or buckshot. My friend, who was driving, opted out of that potential adventure.
Oh...btw...don't litter along here. haha
ps...there's a bad ass dog to take care of business if all else fails.
Each must hold it's own; if it doesn't, the thing collapses ;-)

Learning is much like fishing, you never know what you are going catch, but unless you cast a line, you will catch nothing. My five year old granddaughter taught me another lesson today when she said to me: “Dada, how do you know so much?”
She unknowingly shamed me as I really don't know too much at all, and it made me think again about how much we don't know yet think we do. So I've gained some knowledge over the years to impress a five year old, but the most important knowledge gained is the one being how ignorant I am of nearly everything.
But that's a good thing as it at least means I know enough to understand how ignorant I am. She sweetly reminded me to be more humble. You never stop learning. My ignorance is vast but the knowledge to be learned is infinite, so there's no shame in knowing you are always ignorant of something. The shame comes from any arrogance born of ignorance. Beware the confident expert certain of all things. I wish I was five again. There's so much to discover and wonder at, and so few years left. I'd better keep casting that line out there.
no preparation is thought necessary ;-)

Highest EXPLORE No84..........................
I've lost 2 contacts that I counted as friends, in the last 2 weeks.
I have loyally followed their work, & they have just left without a word. Maybe I'm old Fashioned but I think they have been rude & ignorant.
I think I shall have to be wary of whom I class as friends in future!
That is the only way to find new ideas and

For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you. God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands; neither is worshipped with men's hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things; and hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation; that they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us: for in him we live, and move, and have our being.

Went to the climate protest in Chicago yesterday and it was impressive, but not. I find it restorative to go out and be with people that understand the dire situation that we are in and are struggling against those that do not. It is uplifting and impressive to see the number of people around the word rising up. It is not impressive in Chicago. There were a lot of people there but only a fraction of how many should have been there. Americans and Chicagoans continue to broadcast how ignorant they are and it saddens me.
Three years plus of Chaos, lying, narcissistic, ignorant & totally inept governing.

Ramrod straight they have stood, forgotten their pride and use.
Gunners and the rankers have toiled.
Sweat ran in rain, sun, sleet 'n' snow.
Sinews and muscles torn blistered and abused on hemp and steel.
Forgotten the barges Mog and Magog from the Woolwich Arsenal heavily laden.

Fighting all against wind 'n' tide, floods and ebbs with frothy seahorses galore.
Their History and Pride second place to ignorant bliss.

Dignity
1. The moment you realize that the person you cared for has nothing intellectually or spiritually to offer you, but a headache.
2. The moment you realize God had greater plans for you that don’t involve crying at night.
3. The moment you stop comparing yourself to others because it undermines your worth, education and your parent’s wisdom.
4. The moment you live your dreams, not because of what it will prove or get you, but because that is all you want to do. People’s opinions don’t matter.
5. The moment you realize that no one is your enemy, except yourself.
6. The moment you realize that you can have everything you want in life. However, it takes timing, the right heart, the right actions, the right passion and a willingness to risk it all. If it is not yours, it is because you really didn’t want it, need it or God prevented it.
7. The moment you realize the ghost of your ancestors stood between you and the person you loved. They really don't want you mucking up the family line with someone that acts anything less than honorable.
8. The moment you realize that happiness was never about getting a person. They are only a helpmate towards achieving your life mission.
9. The moment you believe that love is not about losing or winning. It is just a few moments in time, followed by an eternity of situations to grow from.
10. The moment you realize that you were always the right person. Only ignorant people walk away from greatness.

At last, one of the worst periods in the government of Mexico ends tonight. We lived these last six years under the rule of what we called in Mexico "a bar drunk" (un borracho de cantina). A crazy megalomaniac, a compulsive liar, who looks himself as a messiah. Tomorrow the first female president will take his place. She is from the same political party.
Our almost former president is an ignorant, but I am sure that some of their people on the government have read the novel 1984. I am sure that they feel that the policy of Big Brother is the right thing to do. Dark times for our country.
The Ministry of Truth, the Ministry of Peace, the Ministry of Love, and the Ministry of Plenty are the four ministries of the government of Oceania in the 1949 dystopian novel Nineteen Eighty-Four, by George Orwell.
The Ministry of Truth (Newspeak: Minitrue) is the ministry of propaganda. As with the other ministries in the novel, the name Ministry of Truth is a deliberate misnomer because in reality, it serves the opposite: It is responsible for any necessary falsification of historical events. However, like the other ministries, the name is also apt because it decides what "truth" is in Oceania.
(the building) It is an enormous pyramidal structure of glittering white concrete rising 300 m (980 ft) into the air, containing over 3000 rooms above ground. On the outside wall are the three slogans of the Party: "WAR IS PEACE", "FREEDOM IS SLAVERY", and "IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH". There is also a large part underground, probably containing huge incinerators where documents are destroyed after they are put down memory holes. From Wikipedia
"They couldn't see what I thought would be so obvious
They hide behind the laws they made for all of us
The ministry of truth that deals with pretense
The ministry of peace that sits on defense
I'm washing my hands of what they're trying to do
It's for me, it's for me, it's for you, it's for you
I'm just a rock 'n' roll rebel
I'll tell you no lies
They say I worship the devil
They must be stupid or blind
I'm just a rock 'n' roll rebel..."

Taum Sauk State Park, Missouri. We gently lifted up the rock that covered this fella so that we could get cleaner shots. When done, we relocated him to another hospitable area so that the folks who watched us photograph him would not do him harm, as ignorant folks are wont to do with venomous snakes.
Another shot from Florida. As I was taking my evening bike ride I heard some commotion coming from a waterway next to the road. I pulled my bike over to find this Great Egret trying to make a meal of this Mallard x Mottled Duck hybrid duckling. I watched in a sort of bewildered fascination as the egret attempted to swallow this duckling.
Eventually, after about five minutes, the egret got the duckling down. The duckling's brother and sisters were completely ignorant of what happened to their sibling as they continued to swim within a few feet of the egret which ate well for the next few days I'd guess. I have very little sympathy for the hybrid duckling, as Mallard x Mottled Duck hybrids have all but replaced the Mottled Duck in Pinellas County.
I remain ignorant to what these are, but they were at Sandgate in bayside Brisbane. Have a lovely weekend everyone.

Our local Search and Rescue team were tasked out several times this weekend. We are not far from Vancouver but within a short drive you find yourself in very wild and remote wilderness with no cell phone access. Many venture off ignorantly into the beautiful British Columbia wilderness totally unprepared. Inevitably the call goes out and the dedicated volunteers from Ridge Meadows Search and Rescue head out to recover yet another lost and often injured wanderer. Case in point I was taking this photo a few days ago and a woman was letting her kids play in this water. I cautioned her but she brushed away my warning. These waters look beautiful but it’s glacial melt water with tremendous currents that sweep away swimmers every year. Todays photo is dedicated to the incredible people at Ridge Meadows Search and Rescue as well as their sister groups from around the world.

"Industrial Death" 1979
Perhaps we were ignorant of what we were doing with, and to, our planet and it's creatures back then ? But it was certain death in the long run really. A slow death over several generations. This 'Coalite' Works was in a valley near where I grew up. The smell was all pervading in my village and along with the Coal Mines left a grim facade everywhere. And yet just 5 miles away were beautiful wild open moors and the Peak District. Have I made it look worse ? Not much tbh .. and it feels just like I remember and it fits my emotional reaction to this memory.

Although it is not the original Galt House, when I look at the modern Galt hotel in downtown Louisville, I think of the rising star of Brigadier General William "Bull" Nelson of Kentucky cut short. It is hard not to think back to this Civil War killing at the Galt House of Nelson by an angry fellow Union General, who was angrily dismissed of his command for being ignorant of his operations and negligent in his duties.
