Foggy, rainy, windy day, but oh so beautiful. The storm from the night before left palm leaves and branches all over the place, but the overall beach erosion was incredible. This place looks prehistoric!

Chicago preservationists actually won (mostly) a battle back in 1997 when the city agreed to landmark the facade and architectural sculptures designed by Gwen and Eugene Lux for the Art Deco McGraw-Hill Building (1929) on Chicago's Michigan Avenue. A developer tore down the building, but built a reasonable facsimile using the preserved facade. Here Sagittarius, the archer, shown as a man rather than a centaur, seems to be hunting zebra.

I like this particular brand of knife. A good hunting knife needs a good blade for sure but I like these for their grips, they're very sure handed.

1st muzzle loader deer harvest on last day of Upstate NY season, 12/09/2018. Started hunting about 5 years ago & got my first deer (doe) then & have had a dry spell until this hunt. So exhilarating. Yes, there are lots of women who DO like/love to hunt & fish and I just so happen to be one of them.

A Saudi, dressed as a Syrian Bedouin, holds a hunting hawk. They were obviously reasonably wealthy Saudis on a hunting trip/holiday.

Another day of apartment hunting. There are clear yes's and no's in this search! I saw a few more that were not great and then a couple that I really like! The ones that I like are all in the same building and I think I have a favorite that ticks almost every box including most of the nice-to-haves. I'm going to check out a few more tomorrow to be sure and then I'll make my decision. Today is day five which also means it's the last night in the school-provided hotel, so the pressure is on to lock this down. I'm actually changing hotels tomorrow to another one in the neighborhood that I stayed at and loved in 2018. I could have extended at this hotel (and it would have been a little cheaper) but I figured that if I'm spending my own money, I'm going to treat myself and get something I really like.

I also tried out a pilates reformer class for the first time today. It was a private class and everything we did in the reformer was so unexpected and weird. I loved it. I have two more private classes on this package that I bought and then I'll get another discounted intro package that's a combination of private and group classes. Then we'll see. If I do end up renting in the building I saw today, there's a CrossFit gym just across the street, so I may just return to that. For now, it's fun to try something new.

Photo of the day: the interior of a building I saw today. I loved the real greenery on every floor of the building and the open-air courtyard.
