The ear tends to be lazy, craves the familiar and is shocked by the unexpected; the eye, on the other hand, tends to be impatient, craves the novel and is bored by repetition. [W. H. Auden]

As part of the exhibition BEING , Storefront presented DISRUPT: Croquembouches, an installation-banquet on the connections and connotations between Food and Architecture. The event follow a day-long installation by Savinien Carcostea, which included an 9-foot tall cone of Croquembouches, a traditional French dessert, that was on display at Storefront's gallery throughout the day and offered to visitors in the evening.
7,000 Croquembouches were available for consumption.
This what I hate again.... Every year house owners on the islands pet these cats...all through the summer...But when the autumn comes they just pack and go....leaving all to their everlasting hunger....
If you ever go to the Prince Islands please to take a pack of dry cat food for these poor creatures...

he first of the two major hunger strikes began on 27 October 1980 and ended on 18 December 1980 after a period of 53 days. Raymond Mc Cartney, the main subject in the mural, was one of those who took part. Initally seven Republican prisoners in the H-blocks of the Maze Prison volunteered to go on hunger strike. They were followed on 1 December 1980 by 3 women prisoners in Armagh prison. A further 23 Republican prisoners joined the strike on 15 December 1980. The first hunger strike was called off when the prisoners thought that the government had conceded on the issue of political status. The entire episode together with the second hunger strike in 1981 when ten men, including Bobby Sands, lost their lives left an indelible scar on the Bogside psyche. Raymond Mc Cartney's face is emblazoned on many peoples minds to this day because his photograph smuggled out of 'the Maze' seemed to tell the whole story of the grief and suffering of the inmates.

Our local chamber of commerce put on an event where people acting as mannequins portray characters from books. It was called "frozen in time" and the people were set up in store fronts, behind the window glass.
This made for some difficult photography with glare and reflections. These shots were taken with my 1957 Kodak Retina IIIc loaded with Ilford FP4 film and self developed in a 1:14 dilution of Ilfosol3 for 7.5min at 68F

A student classic, pesto pasta.
This isn't perfect, a bit blurry. The plan this week was to take a photo of my evening meal but I may have left it a bit late...
The idea is there in any case.
