day 20 of 365. i am officially a hungry pregnant woman. not always, but there are definitely times when i need food and i need it now. i went to the fridge at one of those ravenous times a found it in the above condition. it was then that i made the determination:
pregnant woman + practically empty fridge = i can't be blamed for my own actions ;)

I sort of like this one. And turning from the melancholy yearnings for one's lost youth to actual food....
IMHO, Kibbitz is far, far, far and away the best Jewish deli in Center City. If you've been there, you know what I'm talking about. If you haven't and are in need of a REAL hot pastrami and swiss on rye (not that weak thinly-sliced and then possibly microwaved deli loaf pastrami a lot of places try to get away with) you need to check it out.
Across the street is Jones - which is nice too. Nothing against Jones, but whenever we end up on that corner and we see people going into Jones, I always say something to the effect of "how can they go in there when there's real pastrami over on this side of the street?"

Youth group Easter retreat theme was "Hunger Games" this year. I found a great fiery ring tutorial and then added my own flare with the cross and the arrow. The byline is "May God's Mercy Be Ever In Your Favor."

City College staff, from all departments, joined Farmshare of America and Strike Out Hunger Food Drive in Alachua County to make a difference this holiday season. Over 800 families received an estimated 20 pounds of perishable and non-perishable food items. Great Job!!! The Team led by Gloria Ashley: Alicia Aikens, Gloria Ashley, Diane Colson, Renelle Debose, Mirvat Jamal, Ray Matura, Monica Pozo, Terra Slater.

Sa totoo lang, naalala ko si Kuya Alliage, isang batang mahilig kumain ng ice scramble at walang sawang nangungulit sa mga tindera na dagdagan siya ng powdered milk, strawberry syrup, at toppings. Lugi tuloy sa kanya yung tindahan malapit sa amin.
Anyway, eto si Babylyn, walong taong gulang at anak ng isang manininda sa Quiapo. Kumakain siya ng ice scramble bilang merienda habang abalang nagbebenta ang kanyang ina. Makikita sa likod ang mata ng anak ng kustomer ng nanay ni Babyly. Hindi ko alam kung nakatingin ang bata dahil naiinggit siya sa ice scramble ni Babylyn o dahil wish lang niya na makuhanan din ng picture. Hehe.
The Food Bank for Westchester presented Leake & Watts staff and residents with the Hunger Heroes Service Provider Award in June 2013 for their work in the Leake & Watts Healthy Futures Program & Youth Gardens.
My school is having a Hunger Games party on the 27th and there's this competition where you design a tribute's outfit for the Opening Ceremony. I did a District 12 girl. :D
Tania Reynolds spent the day at a school in Pickering Ontario where she educated students about hunger and agriculture issues, and the importance of development assistance. The students were encouraged to write letters to policy makers in both Canada and the US.

Dell EMC Oklahoma City employees recently helped the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma by sorting and packing 54,360 pounds of food into boxes for the one in six Oklahomans living with hunger. The Regional Food Bank brought semi-trucks full of sorting and packing equipment and set-up the Remote Volunteer Experience at the Dell EMC campus to allow employees to volunteer their time without leaving the workplace.
“We are grateful to the Regional Food Bank for bringing their Remote Volunteer Experience to our site so our employees could sort and pack food here at Dell EMC during the workday,” said Scott Haworth, Co-site leader, Dell EMC OKC. “More than 80 percent of our employees give back to the community throughout the year and having the Regional Food Bank come to the site is extremely helpful in creating one more opportunity for those of our employees wishing to give back to the community for a significant amount of time. We are thankful for the increased access to community service this operation brought all of our employees and for the work the Regional Food Bank does in helping fight hunger in Oklahoma.”
More than 160 Dell EMC employees volunteered in two-hour shifts time and helped fill 1,359boxes, enough to fill one and a half semi-trucks.
“We are grateful for Dell EMC OKC for donating their time to pack food for our Oklahoma neighbors experiencing hunger,” said Katie Fitzgerald, chief executive officer of the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma. “For the past 14 years, Dell has been a valuable partner and we are humbled by their generosity and the selfless spirit they continue to demonstrate.”
