4th and 5th graders from Knox Gifted Academy made centerpieces for the annual Matthew's Crossing dinner, benefiting a local food bank.

Four ladies in the White Camp went to any lenghts and started hunger strike. Recent news report that only one of them is still on hunger strike. Two had to stop after consultin a physician and another one collapsed and had to be hospitalized. Also, in many hospitals in Poland doctors also started hunger strikes.

As part of the exhibition BEING , Storefront presented DISRUPT: Croquembouches, an installation-banquet on the connections and connotations between Food and Architecture. The event follow a day-long installation by Savinien Carcostea, which included an 9-foot tall cone of Croquembouches, a traditional French dessert, that was on display at Storefront's gallery throughout the day and offered to visitors in the evening.

 

7,000 Croquembouches were available for consumption.

This what I hate again.... Every year house owners on the islands pet these cats...all through the summer...But when the autumn comes they just pack and go....leaving all to their everlasting hunger....

 

If you ever go to the Prince Islands please to take a pack of dry cat food for these poor creatures...

State Senator Joan V. Hartley (D-Waterbury) sings along with students and volunteers at a 'Help Bag Hunger' Event in ShopRite of Waterbury. Senator Hartley was on hand to raise awareness of hunger in Connecticut and the need for food donations during National Hunger Action Month; students performed an original song and were selling CDs of the song to raise money for local food banks. Our local chamber of commerce put on an event where people acting as mannequins portray characters from books. It was called "frozen in time" and the people were set up in store fronts, behind the window glass.

 

This made for some difficult photography with glare and reflections. These shots were taken with my 1957 Kodak Retina IIIc loaded with Ilford FP4 film and self developed in a 1:14 dilution of Ilfosol3 for 7.5min at 68F

The Irish Hunger Memorial in Manhattan incorporates an authientic recreation of a 19th century Irish rural cottage.

City College staff, from all departments, joined Farmshare of America and Strike Out Hunger Food Drive in Alachua County to make a difference this holiday season. Over 800 families received an estimated 20 pounds of perishable and non-perishable food items. Great Job!!! The Team led by Gloria Ashley: Alicia Aikens, Gloria Ashley, Diane Colson, Renelle Debose, Mirvat Jamal, Ray Matura, Monica Pozo, Terra Slater.
