A 55-year-old block of flats in a run-down part of Kowloon collapsed, killing at least four people on January 29, 2010.
The maintenance workers install scaffolding to support adjacent structures at the site of the collapsed building.

WHAMPOA GARDEN
Whampoa Garden (Chinese: 黃埔花園) is the largest private housing estate located in Hung Hom, Kowloon, Hong Kong, and is built on the site of the former Whampoa Dockyards. It was built under Hutchison Whampoa's "garden city" concept and completed in 1991. There are 10,519 flats, ranging from 350 to 1,110 sq ft. (33 to 103 m²), in the 88 residential towers. The estimated population of the estate is approximately 50,000.
The estate consists of 12 complexes. Ten are residential/commercial mixed use, with a total of 88 residential towers. The other two are solely commercial use with several shopping arcades, two supermarkets (of which one in Site 12 is the first Superstore in Hong Kong), a cinema, dozens of restaurants, five primary schools, shops, recreational facilities (mainly sport) and a public transport terminus.
The landmark of Whampoa Garden, a ship-shaped shopping centre building. A Jusco department store is in its basement.

Hung Hom "then and now" comparison views (2 of 2). As of the Spring of 2014, the former freight yard is being rebuilt as part of an MTR project to build another cross-harbor commuter rail tunnel to Hong Kong Island.

Can even see Lei Yue Mun at this point of the hill.
But redevelopment happens everywhere in this area. If I come back here to take another shot after 10 years, may only see groups of skyscrapers.

Common name: West Indies Mahogany 桃花心木
Family: Meliaceae 楝科
Origin: West Indies
Location: Hong Kong Polytechnic University campus
West Indies mahogany is a grand tree with a broad, dense symmetrical crown and a straight trunk often buttressed and swollen at the base. It has the potential to get 75 ft (22.9 m) tall with a trunk diameter in excess of 2 ft (0.6 m), but such large trees are very rare. Most mahoganies are no more than 30-40 ft (9.1-12.2 m) tall with 20-30 ft (6.1-9.1 m) canopy spreads. Mahogany is a semi-deciduous tree which loses its old leaves at the end of winter just as the new growth is beginning. It may be leafless for only a week or two. The leaves of mahogany are unique among North American native trees: They are even-pinnate compound, with three or four pairs of asymmetric leaflets and no leaflet at the tip. The newly unfolding leaves are reddish purple, soon turning to yellowish green. Mahogany produces small, fragrant, rather inconspicuous flowers on the year's new growth as the leaves are emerging, and both male and female flowers are produced on the same tree. The conspicuous fruits are woody five-lobed capsules, about 5 in (12.7 cm) long. They persist on the branchlets until leaf fall the following spring, when they split open to release the abundant seeds. The seeds are winged with papery vanes, about 2 in (5.1 cm) long, and dispersed by wind.

The space between the buildings which almost collide create a visual tension which allows for a dynamic play between positive and negative space.

Did you know that there is daylight sometimes in Hong Kong?
Did you know that it doesn't always rain, and that it's not always cold there?
Did you know how crowded the streets are during the day?
Did you know that Haagen Dasz does not taste the same without your smiling chocolate face next to me?
Did you know that I miss zombying with you?
Did you know how grateful I am for these 3 nights?
And how I wish for more...
UNFAIR is the only word on my mind these days...
BTW, I saw a dog yesterday... I'm sure you would have liked to take a picture of it.
