In the Texas Hill Country I was able to find black-chinned hummingbirds in abundance. As many hummingbirds do, they began to ignore me once they were used to my presence. Here one is feeding on a flowering red yucca.

I havent really found any good spots to shoot in Birmingham yet. I think my camera was getting rusty...lol.
This little girl hangs out at on the crape myrtles near my feeder nearly all day guarding it. Its not the best light situation, but I was a little desperate

Could be better, but it was fun. Also noticed that there is a Hawk building just over the house...more fun soon!

Huntington Beach - Bordered on one side by Pacific Coast Highway and oil fields and houses on the other, Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve wetlands is a 300 acre coastal sanctuary for wildlife and migratory birds. There's a wooden bridge crossing over a tidal inlet and a 1.5 mile loop trail providing spectacular wildlife viewing.

Much like the Allan's Hummingbird's I found these to be abundant and they also used the same perches over and over again as they moved about there territory. I found several putting on aerial displays in there attempt to lure a mate. although they did seem to mix somewhat there were definite territories established that were predominantly Allan's and vice versa. also they did not seem to care for each other much at they were active in running each other off when boundaries were crossed.
A flash of green and red, the Ruby-throated Hummingbird is eastern North America’s sole breeding hummingbird. Enjoy them while they’re around; by early fall they’re bound for Central America, with many crossing the Gulf of Mexico in a single flight.
