Watching the hummingbirds, oh what a sight!
Flitting and fluttering, with all their might.
Tiny wings beating, faster than the eye,
A blur of colors, as they zip on by.
Their beaks like needles, sipping sweet nectar,
Hovering mid-air, with such perfect vector.
Dancing and darting, in the sun's warm rays,
A ballet of beauty, that leaves us amazed.
They come in so many colors, bright and bold,
Reds, greens, and blues, that never get old.
Their energy is boundless, their speed surreal,
A true wonder of nature, that we all can feel.
So let's sit back, and watch them in awe,
As they buzz and hum, and never once pause.
For the hummingbirds remind us, of life's simple grace,
A reminder to cherish, every moment and place.
More hummingbird pictures. I am running out of ways to compose these to make them look different, so I am not sure how many more will get posted.
This Broad-tailed Hummingbird was very tolerant of close human approach, but completely *intolerant* of another hummingbird that dared visit the same patch of flowers in Cuchara, Colorado.
Difficult little fellows to capture! SHot these with a Sigma 150-500mm (at 500mm) at very high ISO (1600) due to bad light. We put out a new hummingbird feeder and it's already luring in a few different birds.
Several juvenile Selasphorus rufus, or Rufous Hummingbirds, were fighting over a feeder near my door on June 29, 2016.
