Hummingbirds are small, colorful birds with iridescent feathers. Their name comes from the fact that they flap their wings so fast (about 80 times per second) that they make a humming noise. Hummingbirds can fly right, left, up, down, backwards, and even upside down. They are also able to hover by flapping their wings in a figure-8 pattern. They have a specialized long and tapered bill that is used to obtain nectar from the center of long, tubular flowers. The hummingbird’s feet are used for perching only, and are not used for hopping or walking.
the hummingbirds where everywhere, even at the breakfast table in the courtyard of my hotel, an noble old house in San Jose, loved by its owners (Hotel Rosa del Paseo in the Paseo colón) and very reasonable in price..
The mango hummingbird may not be as colourful as the other hummingbird endemic to Jamaica, the Steamertail, however it is bigger, more aggresive and displays colour tail feathers itself.

Dos semanas de intentos me costó esta foto. Lo dejaré descansar un tiempo, aunque ya no le perturba mi presencia. Este asiduo visitante a mi jardín también es llamado Amazilia yucateca. Two weeks of efforts took me to get this shot. Ill let him rest for a while even though he is starting to tolerate me.

This handsome species I found in the montane forests of southeastern Arizona among pine, oaks and sycamore trees.

More Hummingbirds from Ecuador.. The Rufous-tailed Hummer reminds me very much of the Broad-billed Hummer here in SE Arizona, with its red bill.
