This humidifier runs next to my bed all night in the winter. Sometimes its groans and whirs are so interesting that they keep me awake and I have to turn it off. It plays little cadences, drones, and repeating beats that constantly change. Or I'm just hallucinating in my half-asleep state.
I've been meaning to record it for months. It didn't do anything particularly exciting during these 45 seconds, but you can hear it subtly change even in that time.

There's nothing more fitting than having too much fun and not really thinking things through before thoroughly soaking ones camera with a bucket of water! I'd realized a good split second before it hit the ground that I'd thrown it a little too far :)
I've added a bucket/hose attachment to the de-humidifier so that now it only has to be emptied once a day.. Getting the basement drain-pipe to actually drain is next on my list.
Tomorrow we'll do another box of pear/plum preserves before they turn on us..
The barn, tree branches, iron/water filters, creosote, storage, a new chimney and the de-humidifier are just a few things left to take care of before I leave. I'll do my best to resist a sojourn when I'm finished here and back in Prague! On that note, I hope to finally have steady "paying" work *and* my impalpable Czech Trade License at hand before the end of November (I won't believe it until I see it :)

We did our weekly trip into town today. One of the local newspapers has an RCMP (police) update. Here are just a few of the reports from around here:

Inside the box - massive pile of lint that was safely trapped. The box was only ever pleasantly warm to the touch. The box is 6-8 feet of metal duct away from the dryer exhaust, so never enough heat could build up to cause a problem.
The first 20 or so pages had to be humidified and flattened. I made a new cover for the book while matched the original as closely as possible.

Floundering around for photo ideas today. I noticed that due to an unfortunately boiling incident with my humidifier spout and the resulting tinfoil triage I did on it, I have a great set of textures next to each other. A little flash and some color contrast and we have a winner for the day.
