Denkmal für die ermordeten Juden Europas
Das Denkmal für die ermordeten Juden Europas, kurz Holocaust-Mahnmal genannt, soll als Mahnmal für die unter der Herrschaft des Nationalsozialismus im Holocaust ermordeten Juden dienen. Zwischen 2003 und Frühjahr 2005 wurde das Bauwerk im Zentrum Berlins auf einer etwa 19.000 m² großen Fläche in der Nähe des Brandenburger Tores errichtet. Der Entwurf stammt von Peter Eisenman. Das Mahnmal wurde am 10. Mai 2005 feierlich eingeweiht und ist seit dem 12. Mai 2005 der Öffentlichkeit zugänglich. Im ersten Jahr kamen über 3,5 Millionen Besucher.
Aufbau
Auf der gewellten Grundfläche wurden 2711 innen hohle und zwischen 0,5° und 2° geneigte Betonquader (Stelen) in parallelen Reihen aufgestellt (54 Nord-Süd- und 86 Ost-West-Achsen). Die Stelen sind bei identischem Grundriss (2,38 mal 0,95 Meter) unterschiedlich hoch, zwischen ebenerdig (112 Stück im Gehweg) und 4,7 Meter. Von den nicht-ebenerdigen Stelen sind 367 kleiner als ein Meter, 869 haben Höhen von ein bis zwei Metern, 491 Stelen sind zwischen zwei und drei Metern hoch, 569 Stelen haben eine Höhe zwischen drei und vier Metern und 303 sind größer als vier Meter. Das durchschnittliche Gewicht einer einzelnen Stele beträgt ungefähr acht Tonnen. Die schwerste wiegt etwa 16 Tonnen. In einem mehrstufigen Verfahren sind die Stelen speziell oberflächenbehandelt, um einfache Entfernung von Graffiti zu gewährleisten. Es befinden sich 41 Bäume im Stelenfeld. Die gepflasterte 13.100 m² große Bodenfläche führt unter das Niveau der umgebenden Straßen. Die gleichmäßig 0,95 Meter schmalen Gänge zwischen den Stelen sind für die Besucher voll begehbar, bieten allerdings nicht genügend Platz, um zu zweit nebeneinander zu gehen.
Die Zahl von 2711 Stelen hat nach Auskunft der Denkmals-Stiftung keine symbolische Bedeutung, sondern ergibt sich aus den Maßen, die der Architekt für diesen Standort wählte.
Ein unterirdisches, 930 m² großes Museum (Ort der Information) ergänzt den Komplex. Es enthält unter anderem eine Liste aller Namen der bekannten jüdischen Holocaustopfer. Es besteht aus Ausstellungsräumen (778 m²), Vortragsräumen (106 m²) und einem Buchladen (46 m²).
Kosten
Für den Bau des Denkmals wurden 27,6 Millionen Euro aus Mitteln des Bundeshaushalts ausgegeben: 25,3 Millionen Euro für das Stelenfeld und den Ort der Information, 2,3 Millionen Euro für den Ausstellungsbau. Die Kosten nur für das Stelenfeld beliefen sich auf 14,8 Millionen Euro.
Die Stiftung, die das Denkmal trägt, hat einen laufenden Jahresetat von 2,1 Millionen Euro, die aus dem Haushalt des Bundes-Kulturstaatsministers finanziert werden. Wolfgang Thierse trat im Juni 2006 von seinem Posten als Vorstandsvorsitzer der Denkmalsstiftung zurück, weil er diesen Etat für um mindestens 600.000 Euro unterfinanziert hielt. Er forderte eine Erhöhung des Etats auf mind. 2,7 Millionen Euro jährlich.
Deutungsversuche
* Die 2711 Stelen erinnern an Grabsteine. Es bestehen Ähnlichkeiten zwischen dem Mahnmal und den Sarkophag-Gräbern jüdischer Friedhöfe (insbesondere dem Alten jüdischen Friedhof in Prag oder dem Ölberg in Jerusalem).
* Die Stiftung sieht laut Webseite in der kaum merklichen Neigung der Pfeiler die Möglichkeit, ein "Gefühl der Verunsicherung" zu erzeugen.
* Der Architekt Peter Eisenman sieht im strukturellen Aufbau des Denkmals die einem scheinbaren System inhärente Instabilität. Andere Äußerungen, insbesondere in seiner Wettbewerbsbegründung, deuten darauf hin, dass er das Denkmal als Platzhalter sieht, aus dem Neues entsteht. Dies würde auch sein Zitat anlässlich der Eröffnung erklären: „Graffiti wären gut“
* Der Förderkreis um Lea Rosh erklärt das Denkmal zum Kenotaph und vergleicht es mit Kriegerdenkmälern und Soldatenfriedhöfen: Es sei nötig, weil die meisten ermordeten Juden kein eigenes Grab hätten.

The general term ice age or, more precisely, glacial age denotes a geological period of long-term reduction in the temperature of the Earth's surface and atmosphere, resulting in an expansion of continental ice sheets, polar ice sheets and alpine glaciers. There have been at least four major ice ages in the Earth's past. Outside these periods, the Earth seems to have been ice-free even in high latitudes. There is evidence that greenhouse gas levels fell at the start of ice ages and rose during the retreat of the ice sheets, but it is difficult to establish cause and effect. Greenhouse gas levels may also have been affected by other factors which have been proposed as causes of ice ages, such as the movement of continents and vulcanism. Although the last glacial period ended more than 8,000 years ago, its effects can still be felt today. For example, the moving ice carved out landscape in Canada, Greenland, northern Eurasia and Antarctica. The erratic boulders, till, drumlins, eskers, fjords, kettle lakes, moraines, cirques, horns, etc., are typical features left behind by the glaciers. The Dutch IJsselmeer lake is covered with icerocks hummocks, caused by the cold weather of the passed days. At some places even higher than 6 meter!
Hummocks are moving up on the dyke road to Marken taken at the IJsselmeer (IJmeer) near Amsterdam. The hummocks are moving slowly up on the dyke due the pressure fromm the wind from the East. A hummock is a boss or rounded knoll of ice rising above the general level of an ice-field, Hummocky ice is caused by slow and unequal pressure in the main body of the packed ice, and by unequal structure and temperature at a later period. Blue ice occurs when snow falls on the ice. The blue color is actually created for the same reason that water is blue, that is, its slight absorption of red light due to an overtone of the infrared OH stretching mode of the water molecule.

In het Engels wordt dit een periode van ice-house genoemd, als tegenhanger van een ijskaploze periode, de greenhouse ("broeikas"). Aangezien er gletsjers liggen op bijvoorbeeld Groenland of Antarctica, leven we tegenwoordig in een ijstijd. Met behulp van klimaatmodellen wordt door wetenschappers een reconstructie van het klimaat en de klimaatveranderingen in het verleden gemaakt. Alhoewel er een zekere consensus bestaat onder wetenschappers, zijn er nog vele onzekerheden en tegenstrijdigheden in dit onderzoek.

Grotere meren zoals het IJsselmeer (IJmeer) hierboven hebben bijna altijd wel golven, en dit werkt directe bevriezing van het wateroppervlak tegen. Eerst vormen zich kleine ijsschotsen, die naar de kust drijven onder invloed van de wind. Deze schotsen vormen zo een ijsveld op het water dat de golven dempt, en uiteindelijk vriezen alle schotsen aan elkaar vast tot een massa. Voordat dit gebeurt schuren de schotsen voortdurend langs elkaar heen en schrapen zo stukjes ijs van elkaar af; elke schots krijgt zo een witte rand. Zulk ijs is dus totaal niet geschikt om op te schaatsen. Wanneer grotere delen van het meer bevriezen beginnen de platen, die soms een paar vierkante kilometer groot zijn, langzaam tegen elkaar te bewegen onder invloed van de wind en stroming. Dit heeft kruiend ijs tot gevolg: de ijsschotsen worden met kracht gebroken en op elkaar gestapeld langs de dijken langs het meer. Dit hoeft niet alleen bij dun ijs te gebeuren; soms kruit het ijs bij een dikte van meer dan 20 cm. De stapels ijs worden dan hoog, en het geluid is oorverdovend.

The tower at the Gurdwara in village Palahi.
This Gurdwara is sited in the village Palahi, near Phagwara and has the honour of being blessed with visits from three Sikh Guru´s - the sixth Sikh Guru,Sri Guru Hargobind Ji, the seventh Sikh Guru Sri Guru Har Rai Ji and the nineth Sikh Guru Sri Guru Teghbadur Ji.
It is built on the site of a battle, in 1635; between Guru Hargobind Ji and the invading Mughal forces. Though many Sikhs gave their lives, they emerged victorious.
During this battle, the future, Sri Guru Tegh Badahur Ji fought alongside his father, Sri Guru Hargobind Ji.
In later years the Seventh Sikh Guru Sri Guru Har Rai Ji also visited this village.
On June 11, Sikhs celebrated the Gurgadi of Sri Guru Har Gobind.
On June 16, Sikhs worldwide remember the martydom of the fifth Sikh Guru, Sri Guru Arjan Ji (the father of Sri Guru Hargobind).

Lindo projeto, que educa e estimula o contato com a natureza. Virou uma atração turística valorizando a região.
O detalhe é que em Limburg, se concentra grandes fábricas de bicicletas. Limburg quer se colocar em evidência como um paraíso ciclístico, para atrair ainda mais turistas de bicicleta
da Holanda e do exterior.

Walking on water may elude most of us, but this bike trail in northern Belgium offers an experience that’s almost as divine. The 212-m track, dubbed “Cycling Through Water,” slices through a large pond in the De Wijers nature reserve; in the middle, it dips low enough to put riders at eye level with the water.
The project, which was completed in 2016, is part of the Limburg province’s efforts to bolster its 1,240 miles of biking trails. “We do not want to create more miles, we want to create better miles,” says Igor Philtjens of Toerisme Limburg, the project developer. To date, Cycling Through Water has attracted more than 500,000 bikers. —Casey Quackenbush
ABOUT CYCLING THROUGH WATER
In April 2016 'Cycling through Water' opened, an inspiring cycling trail through a pond of the De Wijers nature reserve in Bokrijk-Genk. Since the opening, already 500.000 cyclists have visited the cycling trail. The project has given a boost to the entire region.
AN EXTRAORDINARY CYCLING TRAIL
The bike trail through water leads cyclists through a 212 meters long and three meters wide concrete path with water at eye level on both sides. Swans and other waterfowl float on the edge and watch the cyclists curiously. Since its opening, the interest in this special bike trail has been huge. An average of 800 visitors per day explore this unforgettable part of the Limburg cycling route network. With highs on Saturday and Sunday and no less than 5.000 cyclists on top days.

Not only cyclists participate. Many walkers also take a peek. It is nice to see how the heads of the cyclists seem to 'glide' across the water surface. That also explains the hype on social media. A lot of visitors post photos and selfies online, even blogs talk about this extraordinary experience.
The project was completed in a very short time thanks to the positive cooperation between the different partners. The construction of the bike trail was combined with nature conservation projects in the surrounding ponds. This resulted in improvement in the water quality and a significant increase in the habitat of amphibians.
'Cycling through Water' provides qualitative improvements to the larger environment. The project not only stimulates the nature reserve and open-air museum Bokrijk, but also the future tourist development of the De Wijers site, a 700 hectare network of ponds. This bicycle attraction is a clear reason for tourists to come and share.
The success of 'Cycling through Water' makes it clear that the bicycle route network in Limburg offers a very strong grid for incorporating innovative tourism projects. Through this and similar cycling experiences, Limburg is taking a place on the international map as a cycling region, where beautiful landscapes and unique heritage are strung together. In addition, these projects can be a stimulus for future development on and next to the bicycle route network.

The Cathedral of Saint Peter (German: Trierer Dom) is a church in Trier, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It is the oldest cathedral in the country. The edifice is notable for its extremely long life span under multiple different eras each contributing some elements to its design, including the center of the main chapel being made of Roman brick laid under the direction of Saint Helen, resulting in a cathedral added on to gradually rather than rebuilt in different eras. Its dimensions, 112.5 by 41 m, make it the largest church structure in Trier. Since 1986 it has been on the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites.
De Dom van Trier (Dom St. Peter) is de kathedraal van Trier en de oudste bisschopskerk van Duitsland. Hij gaat in de kern terug op een Romeinse basilica die vanaf 326 werd gebouwd door de Romeinse keizer Constantijn de Grote. In de 11de eeuw kreeg de dom zijn huidige westfaçade, die de Salische stijl vertegenwoordigt. De dom van Trier staat sinds 1986 op de Werelderfgoedlijst van de UNESCO.

La Casa de Pilatos es un palacio situado en la ciudad española de Sevilla, en Andalucía perteneciente a la Casa de Medinaceli. Constituye uno de los edificios más emblemáticos de la arquitectura civil andaluza del siglo XVI y presenta una combinación de los estilos renacentista italiano y el mudéjar español, fruto de las diferentes intervenciones acontecidas, desde el último tercio del siglo XV hasta el siglo XVII.
La construcción del palacio se inició en 1483, por iniciativa y deseo de Pedro Enríquez de Quiñones (IV Adelantado Mayor de Andalucía) y su segunda esposa Catalina de Ribera, fundadores de la Casa de Alcalá. La obra se levantó sobre varios solares que habían sido confiscados por la Inquisición. El fallecimiento en 1493 de Pedro Enríquez, llevó a que Catalina fuese la encargada de acometer la configuración inicial del palacio. Su hijo Fadrique Enríquez de Ribera (1476-1539) y su nieto Per Afán de Ribera y Portocarrero (1509-1571) ampliaron y completaron la decoración de la Casa.
Fadrique Enríquez (primer marqués de Tarifa) fue un noble a caballo de la baja Edad Media y la modernidad, representada por el Renacimiento. Entre los años 1518 y 1520 realizó un viaje de peregrinación a la ciudad santa de Jerusalén, en el que atravesó toda Italia, y en el que quedó profundamente impresionado del arte renacentista que imperaba en las ciudades italianas. A su regreso trasladó esas maneras renacentistas que había observado a la Casa de Pilatos, combinando el estilo renacentista italiano con el mudéjar sevillano, en las ampliaciones que realizó del palacio, en las que ocupó varios solares anexos al mismo. Per Afán de Ribera, sobrino y heredero de Don Fadrique, fue un gran coleccionista de arte que acopió durante su estancia como virrey de Nápoles. Realizó importantes reformas entre 1568 y 1571 para acoger su vasta colección de arte.
Tras su relativo abandono durante el siglo XVIII, se restauró a partir de finales del siglo XIX.
En 1966 tuvo lugar aquí un baile benéfico al que asistieron miembros de la nobleza. Cada familia asistente pagó 5 000 pesetas, destinadas a la Cruz Roja. Las que presidieron la gala fueron Grace Kelly y Jacqueline Kennedy.
La Casa de Pilatos constituye un gran complejo edificatorio inserto en el casco histórico de la ciudad de Sevilla, en el sector de Santa Catalina-Santiago. Ocupa, junto con el colindante convento de San Leandro, gran parte de la manzana que se extiende entre las calles Caballeriza, San Esteban e Imperial.
El palacio se estructura en torno a dos patios, el de ingreso y el principal en torno a los cuales, en una y dos plantas se disponen las estancias principales. A ambos lados de este cuerpo principal, ocupando el resto de la parcela, se extienden dos jardines de distintas dimensiones y formalización. El denominado jardín chico, en el lado este y el jardín grande al oeste. En el edificio predominan las cubiertas inclinadas de teja árabe (esmaltadas en blanco y azul en la zona de la escalera).
