[day 226]
A little bird put a bug in our ear about buying a house this year. It will be our first house. So we went out to look at a house for sale down the street from our current place. We loved it!
It was the first house we have ever looked at so I was pretty excited. It was old and had a lot of charm. It also had no kitchen and needed some work. It didn't even matter that it was on a street behind a topless bar and an adult bookstore. We liked it. We found out later there was already an offer on the place. So this house was not to be ours.

Jackee and I were in the Salinas area again today househunting. We stopped for a potty break and drinks at the MickeyD's in Prunedale where I got this shot, overlooking 101 and the cutoff to the Monterey Peninsula.
2006 (the ominous year of the dog according to the Chinese) had been the year of bad things, including a slew of bad haircuts.
view out the laundry room. shed is approximately as big as a car, but presently has lawn tools and a couple atv's in it.
this is the downstairs. this is an enormous room. i guess it's a den or somesuch. the walls are this faux wood trim. it's gotta go. the floors are more pergo, and the windows are tinyish. but it's huge, and suitable for that crummy couch you don't want in your living room, rugs instead of carpets, etc. garage behind me in this picture.

in serious need of fixer uppin'. nicest thing about the place was the dog. linda couldn't wait to get out of here.
The kitchen of the older place. Included some weirder stuff such as a trash compactor and an extra hot water heater next to the range.
Over the last two days we've seen 9 houses and viewed 5 schools. Think we've decided, just fingers crossed we get it...
Ade makes these spreadsheets for us to fill in and whilst I laugh at him it does help remember the various houses (i also write funny little prompts about the people to help me remember the house - loser icon) but that said you don't forget 'the one' when you see it do you?
Very well maintained. The landscaping is pretty. House 5 is my next favorite house. There are some big downsides. This house is on septic, and there are no sidewalks in the neighborhood. We're about two blocks away from the lake, which is pretty, but there are no city lights and the roads are twisty.
Mom -- this house is EXACTLY the same as the Uncle T's house in Glen Ellyn. It was spooky.
