One Saturday in January, my sons convinced me to go target shooting out in the remote hills near Taft. To my utter surprise, I hit the bullseye!

Actually, I'm not quite hitting bottom with my supply of pictures for Dragonfly Thursday, but getting there. I'll be out this weekend looking to replenish my supply, but I'm not real optimistic; it's starting to get pretty cold, relatively speaking.
This is the female Marl Pennant, Macrodiplax balteata. It's become another favorite of mine. HDT everybody!
2021 was such a wild ride for me! I was reborn in SL, found new interests, new friends, fell in love, and got married. I really hit my stride- only 13 years late!
Thank you to everyone who made 2021 so special. I'd like to wish everyone a happy New Year and a healthy and spectacular 2022!

Butler, Indiana.
I'd set out from home around 3pm to pick up my daughter from college in Michigan. Butler was where I planned to sleep on the way and I got there around midnight. I "slept" in the back of my minivan. I put quotes around that because Butler sees a ton of freight traffic (a train every 10-20 minutes) and I was disturbed the whole night long as trains blasted their horns through the many crossings in the town. (Around 2:30am I drove to somewhere a bit quieter. I guess the folk who live here get used to it?)
Here I am at dawn, bleary-eyed and no coffee in hand as McD's hadn't opened yet.
This is the diamond where NS's Huntington District (running roughly NE- SW from Montpelier, OH to Peru, IN) crosses NS's Chicago Line (running East-West from Cleveland OH to Chicago, IL.) The train seen here is heading SW on the Huntington District about to the cross the Chicago Line.

hit it again, the drift slowed the rotary, so another assault on the drift was needed, the second time th rotary made quick work of the drift., just wet of .Glenham, South Dakota, about 2 miles east of here, another huge drift did win.. the rotary lost, derailing in a bringing an end to the plowing for the day. it needed to dug out and re-railed in the dark

Nós passamos a manhã inteirinha fazendo lição e a tarde eu tenho q arrumar a casa e dar atenção pro caçulinha, e agora finalzinho da tarde eu tenho q correr com o banho das crianças, janta, dar janta pra td mundo, arrumar a cozinha e por td mundo pra dormir, só depois de td lá pela meia-noite q tenho tempo de tomar um banho e ir dormir...tô acabada!!! #sessãodesabapho!

This series of intimate self-portraits has been a long time coming... it was my sister who was the "pretty one", the "thin one"... I grew up in her shadow... I was her little sister... never able to be mom's "favorite"... These are painful thoughts, years of feeling self-loathing... today I took these photos of myself with love & forgiveness, & thoughts of "I am beautiful"... chubby, but beautiful...
My heritage was my sense of myself as a "fat person"... not quite worthy of beauty & love. Feeling deep pains as I write this... but today is the day I fight back & say "It's OK to be fat"... It's beautiful if you feel beautiful inside, if you are loved deeply by a wonderful man & if you love yourself enough to forgive yourself for being "fat"...
I think these photos of myself are full of love & beauty... that's how I feel about [ME]... today.

Really can't believe how lucky we have been so far in the last few weeks... apart from some bad spells of weather, we're had a lot of sunsets, which have given us wonderful lighting for jumps!
I've had this idea written down for ages, although when we tried it, it looked really flat and boring. Originally I had planned to have Rosanna Bell standing with her arms reaching out, and then to have Sasha Bell flying into her arms... that type of thing!
Well when we tried it, it looked really boring... so we thought trying the same idea, but with Rosanna in the air too would be better and I'm so pleased we did it this way because I love the movement of them meeting mid-jump!

NYS&W SU100 rolls south of Blodgett Mills along the Tioughnioga River on a day where the sun would make it or break it. Here, it made it.
Another improvised night shot walking home from work this evening. Since I didn't have the tripod I sat the camera on a railing post that had a handy flat top to it, to take some pics along the Union Canal. On a whim I turned the camera to look down the hill from the bridge, just as some cars were going down and hitting their brakes, so I got these light trails. Sometimes you get lucky.
