The south slope of Mount Frissell in the town of Salisbury and historic Litchfield County includes the highest natural elevation (2,380') in the state of Connecticut. This state-line monument is near the trailhead for a hike to the summit. This snapshot was taken on Wednesday, 24 July 2013.
Flat topped Black Mesa contains the highpoint ( 4973 ft) of Oklahoma. Black Mesa gets its name from the dark volcanic rock that it is made from. You can see some of this rock in the lower right corner of the photo. Black Mesa extends into New Mexico and parts of it are higher than this location. In any event the hole top of the mesa looks quite flat.
