You can see the snowfield we ascended to the saddle on the right, and then a short climb up to our Denali viewpoint. We rested for at least two hours, enjoying the magnificent synchronization of clearing weather, good moods, and a view of Denali.
The south slope of Mount Frissell in the town of Salisbury and historic Litchfield County includes the highest natural elevation (2,380') in the state of Connecticut. For the most part there is no trail to the summit, just a steep scramble over rocks, marked by painted blazes. This snapshot was taken on Wednesday, 24 July 2013.
this tree was outside a great little find: the Dyckman Farmhouse museum, a little farmhouse near the highest point of Manhattan. Built in 1786: difficult to believe that it was all farmland at one point!
This was the first picture I was able to get using natural light. We're somewhere on the trail above Lone Pine Lake.
