The top of Hoye Crest on Backbone Mountain in Maryland. The Highpointers club added the mailbox, where they keep a log and certificates. Others have built a cairn to the right of the sign. I added a rock. My stick, which I bought in Red Rock Canyon near Las Vegas, is leaning against it.
Just beyond this sign is the Monongalia National Forest.
The granite column marks the highest point in the state of Oklahoma, the top of Black Mesa at the very edge of the Panhandle. I don't have too many good shots coming up the mesa, because I was neurotically checking for prairie rattlesnakes and cow manure. No manure up on top, though.

The benchmark is behind a locked door to the staff staircase for the fire tower. Ask and they'll open it up.
On a tabletop with a brown tiled surface, two sparrows forage for scraps of food. They are less than a metre away from the detritus of the photographer enjoying a sushi lunch.

Saw this GSXR-1000 at High Point Monument. I SOOO wanted my bike to ride home instead of the damn rental car!
(It’s 5,424 ft, about 3/8 the height of Mt. Rainier back in Washington State. Incidentally, Denver, the “Mile High City,” is at elevation 5,279 ft, so actually 145’ lower than here. Seattle’s highest elevation is … 174 ft.)
P.S. Some intrepid person left an old desk with a pull-out drawer for signing in. Lots of stuff left by people in there, including a handy condom!
Mount Sunflower, the highest point in Kansas is 4039 feet above sea level. The state's elevation gradually rises from the eastern end to the western border. For those in Pittsburgh, the elevation at downtown is 760 feet above sea level, according to the Rand McNally Road Atlas.
This part of Kansas has many rises on the plains here and there, so it's not "flat," per se.
we were all sick/hung over/still drunk on boxing day at work, and it was pretty quiet for us. it was insane how many people there were at the shopping centre tho, you literally couldn't move. no car parks, no seats in the food court, lines to get in some shops. it was hell! this is zlate and amanda working hard as we always do!
On the site of the old High Point Inn, a placard showed an old postcard of the park with a picture similar to this. An inspiring view.
Taking a picture of this tower also counts as visiting the Delaware highpoint. The true highpoint marker is near the sidewalk from this location. It was dug up and marked recently.
I had to drive a couple hours out of my way to see this, but it was worth it. Funny enough, you can now rent an apartment in there.
