A photo of the Kit-Kat stones from a few weeks ago. I had the place to myself so I thought I might as well take a shot of these stones while I was there.
The lack of cloud was a bit of a disappointment on Thursday so I returned to Higger Tor this morning.
I had a prime lens in the bag so I thought I might as well get a sunstar shot.

Another from Saturday's last minute detour to Higger Tor. I think this shows how much fog there was in Hope Valley.
I took this on a visit to Higger Tor on the morning of Christmas Eve. It was a bitterly cold morning but the light was still good when I arrived.
Taken in colour and changed to black and white. I like the fact that where the light has hit the rocks, it appear to be shining and metallic in appearance.
Its a lovely sight to see the sun break the ridgeline and slowly light the Gritstone of Shelter Rock.

The Kit-Kat Stones in Infrared. Not a lot of IR in the overcast conditions, but a little contrast between the heather and the bracken.

A photo from Saturday morning. I always struggle for foreground on the Western side of Higger Tor. I'd initially tried Curbar Edge which was in the fog so, with a short time left before sunrise, I headed here.
There wasn't much above the fog. Mam Tor on the right horizon was in an out of hill fog.
There's some compositional issues with this shot but I thought it was worth sharing.
A blustery morning in the Peaks and I was surprised to see only 1 other car in the layby down from Higger Tor, as it's normally packed. The forecast hadn't been great, indicating an 80% chance of rain.. what was I thinking!! Inbetween clouds and some quite strong winds, there were moments of fleeting light, one of which I caught above.
The Burbage Valley with the old 17thC Packhorse Bridge straddling Burbage Brook. In the background on the left hand skyline is Higger Tor.
Two images of Over Owler Tor taken a in different conditions. The warm-toned image was taken just after sunset on a fine day and the cool-toned image was taken at sunset on a cloudy day. Both images were taken from Higger Tor but, as can be seen from the different position of elements on the horizon, from slightly different places.
