After cloud and rain yesterday, the sunrise this morning was with mostly clear skies and the light was harsh.

Higger Tor or Higgar Tor is a gritstone tor in the Dark Peak, in the north of the Peak District National Park in England. It overlooks the Burbage Valley and the Iron Age hill fort of Carl Wark to the southeast.

The tor stands to the south west of Sheffield, east of the border with Derbyshire, which runs along the nearby road to Ringinglow.

A scene from the 1987 film The Princess Bride was filmed nearby at Carl Wark with Higger Tor visible in the background.

Its rare that I am treated to a colourful sunrise when I have the camera with me, but this morning the elements all came together. Ironic that its one of the times of year that a colourful sky isn't really necessary, but I'm not going to complain. With so many other photographers drawn out by the forecast, it became tricky not to accidentally include one in the shot.

Selective Sunshine - Panoramas from Higger Tor 01052021

This was taken on Tuesday evening after finishing work.

I met up with David, Rob and Chard and went up onto Higger Tor to capture the sunset, it was a beautiful evening with some lovely warm evening light which made the best of the heather now looking at its best.(EM-1 1/20 f/6.3 @ 7mm NiSi GND16 (4 stop) reverse grad )

Back closer home now autumn is here. There's been a lot yes a lot of rain so it's a question of finding the light between the showers.
