This is the view from below Higger Tor down towards Hathersage and Hope Valley. The sun rays were spectacular as they moved across the landscape.

Saturday's sunrise on Higger Tor. It was all over in a minute or two. I quickly composed a shot with rocks in the foreground.
South Yorkshire has some great areas of the Dark Peak in its boundary. Higger tor, Over Owler Tor, Millstone Edge, even The Crow Stones, to name but a few.
Been a while since I've caught any good light in the Peaks. After a grey start the morning turned out great scattering some patchy light over Carl Wark.
Thanks for looking.

Just before dawn at a windy Higger Tor, a long exposure gave the sky the dramatic feel, which really centres the image. The faint orange glow beyond the Hope Valley is light pollution from the city of Manchester some 40 or so miles away, the real sunrise when it came was directly behind the camera’s view point.
A wild and windy day like today reminds me of the moors. This is Carl Wark on Hathersage Moor, seen from Higger Tor. Labelled as an Iron Age Hillfort, it's actual date and use is unknown, but it's stone fortifications are impressive.
A summer evening on ‪Higger Tor‬ in the ‪Peak District‬. This is after a heavy downpour when a brief amount of sunlight managed to break through the clouds.

Wednesday evening I thought I'd give my ankle a try out with a walk down to Carl Wark for the sunset. I arrived there about an hour before it was due and enjoyed the late evening sunshine just soaking up the views and admiring the purple swathes of heather which is still looking magnificent.
This is the view looking from Carl Wark up the path towards the unmistakeable shape of Higger Tor. I just loved the way the golden hour light was highlighting the heather and bracken bringing out all the lovely rich colours making it a possible contender for my 2018 Peak District calendar.(Olympus EM-1 mkii 7-14mm f/2.8 pro 1/60 f/6.3 @ 7mm Kase Wolverine GND-R 1.2 (4 stop) revers grad)
