Mini Quilt for the Schnitzel and Boo mini quilt swap.

Hexagon Quilt, this is a quilt made for my daughter as my congratulation to her successful master degree in her studies.

It's made from my fabric line Comma for Moda and the background is a Bella Solid Graphite / Zen Grey

I derived this corrugation from Iso-area Diamond Corrugation by adding some extra space between the diagonal creases. This changes the appearance of the corrugation a lot. It’s a simple change so I wouldn’t be surprised if others had also folded it at some point.

In nature, there exists a mineral which is a hexagonal diamond allotrope, called lonsdaleite. It’s a rare mineral which occurs in meteorites. However, this corrugation does not represent its crystal lattice exactly since the lattice is three-dimensional and this model is flat, so it is closer to graphite or graphene.

So, I have been experimenting with this idea I had for a Hexagon shaped base plate for a project I am working on.

After I found out that when you use the Nexagon pieces the way I have done here, a perfect 8x8 opening is created which was exactly what I was looking for. I currently have 2 designs, Option 1 which actually works and Option 2 which still needs some work.

The problem with Option 2 is that because of the weird dimensions of the Nexagon piece, the pieces don't exactly line up, but I am working on fixing that. If anyone else has any solutions, let me know

An experiment to create a handrawn quilt pattern :-)

The Hexagon blanket is finally finished. I love it so much.

Closer they look like flowers

Initially I wanted to fold the corrugation with hexagons and triangles, but then I discovered that it can be made only with hexagons.

The original concept:

(The size of triangles may be varied)

chakra circles into hexagons. Done up through the lt blue/throat chakra section.

I started making these hexagons for a while and now I found time to sew them together.

I followed the basic tutorial for hexagon quilts from jaybirdquilts and the fabric my darling daughter, Ashley picked out.

The main cause is the interaction of sunlight with hexagonal ice crystals (in the shape of plates or columns) found in high clouds (most often of the *cirrostratus* type, at altitudes of 6–12 km)

from hexagon, just with different final touch... blue is from my precious blue elephant hide, green from normal (I know, I know, what's normal:) paper

The hexies are all fabrics from my stash...mostly dots, some checks and a few stripes.

I am making a Ruby Hexagon blanket out of Stylecraft Special dk.

i put triangular grids on the background just in case when it is printed in full size.

the grids might be helpful if the black border lines on the sides are not come out.

Ignore the red dots... they are just traces of my guesstimation.. ^L^"

just in case, folding method is the same as before

I'm using my Hope Valley jelly roll to make the Hexagons for this fun project with Old Red Barn and Jaybird Quilts.
