Make A Difference Day
Dotty Simmons smiles as Rob Cradle cuts her hair Saturday at Kevin's Barber & Beauty shop in Severn as part of Make a Difference Day. Happy Helpers for the Homeless joined other groups in assisting their neighbors on a day dedicated to people helping each other. Before going to the hair stylist, the group enjoyed a breakfast at the Golden Corral Restaurant in Hanover.

Editing Steps:
Open in PSE 8
Duplicated the background layer, applied a high pass filter set to Overlay and masked out her skin
Add Levels adjustment layer, brought the whites and midtones up
Add a second Levels adjustment layer, brought the blacks up and then masked out her face to brighten it back up
Import to Lightroom 3
Applied preset Wheat Field
Adjusted the Luminance Smoothing and Color Noise Reduction...brought them down significantly
Adjusted the saturation of the Split Toning slightly
Reduced the exposure just slightly

At the freemarket on K-day I found this very small sculpture. There's only MJ on it.
MJ could mean: Manu Juvanta, a Belgian students club in Brussels (Erasmushogeschool).

Thanksgiving dinner at Pine Street Inn, New England's largest homeless shelter in Boston, MA. on November 28, 2013. Pine St. Inn served dinner to 1600 guests made from 85 turkeys and all the trimmings.

On July 28, 2010, an Air Blue passenger plane crashed on the Margalla Hills in Islamabad, claiming 152 lives of all personnel on board. This number includes the flight crew. The plane was flying from Karachi to Islamabad. Though many speculations are in the air, the exact cause of this crash is still not known.
The picture shows one of the rescue helicopters, flying away from the crash site the same evening.
