Horizon Helps and Operation Warm kicked off their 2010 coat drive and distribution program donating 80 winter coats to needy kids at the West Center City Early Learning Center in Wilmington, DE on December 10, 2010. Horizon Services will donate $5 from every service call in December 2010 to raise money for Operation Warm. Our goal is $15,000 -- enough for 1000 coats. We're making sure that no child in the Delaware, Pennsylvania and Maryland goes cold this winter. More at www.horizonhelps.com
Community Helpers are people in professions that directly impact the lives of others. They deliver a service that makes our lives easier. It is important for all of us to know the ways in which Community Helpers work. We can also help them do their jobs better if we understand the role they play. In many ways community helpers remind us of how inter-connected our lives are.
Many community helpers have easily identifiable work attire or clothes. This makes it easy to know their role in the community and is helpful if you need to approach them for help. A policeman or fire fighter’s uniform and a doctor’s coat thus become important clues of what they can do. Some community helpers also have identifiable means of transport e.g. the police car, the fire truck the mail van, the ambulance etc.
Children of Class 1 had an activity in which they dressed up as Community Helpers belonging to different professions. They enacted their roles with realistic props alongwith appropriate words.
This activity will help to instill in them respect for all professions and learn to value them better.

I think Baron may be getting sick and I dearly hope not as I am so worried about taking him ti the vet. I have no idea what could be casueing it either.
First of all I noticed that when I help him to my ear, there where strange clicking noised coming from deep in his throat like a bubble poppong in his windpipe. Then I noticed he is fine when he moves but when he is still he kind of sways. I also noticed that he has not touched his water sinse about wednesday. he is eating and I checked hsi teeth which are fine. His coat is a little lack lustre compared to morgoth.
Does anyone have any ideas. while he is not to bad I am going to wait til mon to take him to the vet otherwise I can't really afford out of hours costs
Photos of trash and debris in and along the banks of the Historic Bread and Cheese Creek. Mark your calendars for the Spring Bread and Cheese Creek Cleanup on April 11, 2015 from 8 am - 2 pm in conjunction with the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay's Annual Project Clean Stream! We will be targeting the area of the stream from the Berkshire Community to North Point Road! Volunteers of all ages and abilities are needed! Help us remove the trash before it flows into Back River, the Chesapeake Bay and the Atlantic Ocean! Every piece of trash removed is a small victory to be celebrated!
We run our cleanups as a family event with plenty of ways for volunteers to participate. We welcome every type of person of every ability level to contribute and assist with the cleanup. Though it is true we will need people to dig out shopping carts and haul trash to the dumpsters, we need people to run water, food, tools, and trash bags (both empty and full) to individuals in the creek. People to sort recyclables from the debris removed. People will be needed to help at registration, setup food and snacks as well as many other less strenuous activities. We are also authorized to sign-off on Community Service and Service Learning Hours for students. The more people we have, the easier the work will be for everyone. We will provide lunch and snacks as well as gloves. A limited number of tools are available for sign-out, but suggest bringing your own if you have them.
Registration is at 2048 Plainfield Road, Dundalk, MD 21222 and will open at 7:00 am and we will enter the stream at 8:00 am after a brief orientation!

Ok I finally got off the computer and went and took some photo's today. And every one of them were grainy! I used the tripod, I messed with the ISO and Shutter and even the light meter thing. and nothing worked! Can someone help me figure out what I'm doing wrong

Towards the end of the day after shoving a drag up the mountain, the M&K Helpers head back to Hardman, WV to shove up another coal drag!
The tree falling was a sure sign that I needed to use the funds raised to help rebuild the destroyed institution
Anyone who has ever visited Hadleigh Country Park in Essex, may have passed through Benfleet Downs which runs from Benfleet Station towards Hadleigh Castle. With the impending Olympic Mountain Bike event taking place for four hours over two days in August, Essex County Council in their infinite wisdom have approached Castle Point Borough Council to approve the construction of 3.5m cycle tracks through Benfleet Downs to enable and encourage mountain bike cyclist visitors to get to the Olympic track at Hadleigh more easily. In these days of austerity, a mere three quarters of a million pounds to provide these facilities for a minority to the detriment of the majority of pedestrian visitors is criminal. The effect on the wildlife, peace and tranquility of these Downs is about to be seriously effected and I only have until 31st July to voice my concerns in objection to these proposals at the council planning meeting. This shot was taken today. Nature enthusiats may not be able to witness these fine creatures if the plans go through, for fear of dodging racing cyclists.
