It’s nice having these little paths and trails pretty much in my backyard haha. Taken in Langley BC.

If you would ever so kindly follow my Instagram @mjg.604 it’d be greatly appreciated, thank you!

✌✌✌

I love how quiet it gets at night when it snows.

Water from the Matier Glacier flows down into Joffre Lakes. The intense ambient light is from the moon. It wasn't high enough to rise above the mountains, except through a small gap in the peaks, as you can see on the left of the image.

Although the moon makes the stars more difficult to capture, I really think it can help illuminate other parts of a scene you might not otherwise see clearly.

On Friday I got a new license plate. It's one of those BC Parks ones whose yearly fee helps support provincial parks and other protected areas. At $40/year, it's the minimum I can do to support these slices of heaven sprinkled throughout British Columbia. Secretly, I hope my photos might help promote them as well in some way.

The stillness of a large mountain lake can catch your breath at times. So many factors, and they all align to present a perfectly still, mirror reflection to gaze upon. Blessed scenes in nature. Birkenhead, BC

Nature is the ultimate sculptor. My favorite scenes remain those that combine what nature and humans created together. The vineyard on the hill is likely Thomas Vineyard. I say likely because there are so many vineyards around here that it's actually hard to tell who owns a given piece of land. Other wineries this might belong to are Liquidity and Blue Mountain Vineyards.

I took myself on an adventure yesterday out to the Mission/Stave Lake area. I had never been before, and decided to go check it out and see what I could see. I spent a lot more time in the car than I would have liked, again, the not knowing "where to go" as well as taking an Acura on some pretty rough Forest Service Roads was questionable at times.

After a great day of shooting, I was heading back into town, when the clouds that had been present in the sky earlier had disappeared. I was close to Pitt Lake, so I pulled into a parking lot by the Alouette River. I stepped out of the car, set up the camera and timer, and let the shutter click.

I only took about 60 shots, I was pretty hungry and getting tired, and didn't want to spend much more time behind the wheel.

I wanted to take a photo of the moon between two sources of artificial light. I actually got that shot but when editing a selection of the photos, this one where the highlights are less contained jumped at me due to the alien-like optical illusion. I thought it was cool enough to share, even if the picture itself is of a lesser caliber.

Annie had her surgery today, so I headed out later than usual and only spent a few minutes shooting. Still, I like this moody shot quite a bit.

I haven't done one of these in a while, so tonight was the night.

Majestically located on a deepwater ocean inlet in the south-central heart of Vancouver Island, Port Alberni is a friendly and affordable lumber and fishing town with a bright future as an incredible outdoor adventure location.

Hiking, recreational fishing, mountain biking, and various water activities are all found here.

In a matter of minutes, visitors can travel from city shopping plazas into the thick of the Alberni Valley wilderness. The region stretches from the peak of Mount Arrowsmith to the river systems, lakes, forested expanses, farmlands and ocean fjords that roll west to the open Pacific.

Port Alberni's future has arrived for all-season adventurers keen on salmon fishing, hiking, mountain biking, and numerous water activities (swimming, boating, tubing, kayaking and canoeing).

Drove past Vaseux Lake. The smoke gave it a morning fog look.

This beautiful home looks out over the ocean and surrounded by trees and beautiful gardens. About the location: Nestled in the forest on the fringe of Qualicum Beach, Milner Gardens and Woodland is a newly discovered jewel for garden and outdoor enthusiasts. Milner Gardens offers visitors a beautiful old growth forest walk, a delightfully wild artist’s garden highlighted by a significant collection of Rhododendrons, and a magnificent view of the Strait of Georgia from the large garden lawn and gabled Milner House. The historic English tea-plantation style House will be open for afternoon tea through the season.

This season, in addition to a host of special events, Milner Gardens and Woodland offers visitor walking tours or workshops focusing on the forest, the heritage garden or the history of the property and its Royal connection.

Another shot I took at yesterday's Snowbird show in Penticton. These guys were phenomenal.

This ewe cleared the barbed wire fence as if it wasn't there.

This evening greeted us with a remarkably red Sun and orange sky.
